Three new 1,4-phenylenediacrylate bridged Mn(II) and Co(II) complexes of molecular formulas {[Mn2(ppda)(phen)4(H2O)2](ppda)2(H2O)} (1), {[Co(ppda)- (dpyo)(H2O)3]·4(H2O)}n (2), and {[Co(ppda)(bpe)]·(0.5H2O)}n (3) [ppda = 1,4- phenylenediacrylate; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; dpyo = 4,4′-dipyridyl N,N′-dioxide; bpe = 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies, and low-temperature magnetic measurements. Energy landscapes of ligand-receptor couples probed by dynamic force spectroscopy.

Playing a dominant role in many biochemical processes are the dynamic properties of molecular linkages; examples include cell adhesion, enzyme-catalyzed reactions, and molecular recognition by antibodies. Dynamic force spectroscopy, namely separating molecular bonds under external force ramps has rapidly become a powerful tool to study the rugged energy landscape of noncovalent ligand-receptor bonds. The picture shows a surface and tip-bound pair being pulled apart and the derived potential energy diagram.

The linear and non-linear optical properties of a family of dumbbell-shaped dinuclear complexes, in which an oligothiophene chain with various numbers of rings (1, 3, and 6) acts as a bridge between two homoleptic tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) complexes, have been fully investigated by using a range of spectroscopic techniques (absorption and luminescence, transient absorption, Raman, and non-linear absorption), together with density functional theory calculations. Synthesis and photophysical properties of dansyl-based polyamine ligands and their Zn(II) complexes

The synthesis, potentiometric studies and photophysical properties of two new polyamine ligands (L1 and L2) possessing the dansyl chromophore were studied in aqueous 0.15 M NaCl. The compounds show the absorption and emissions bands characteristic of the dansylamide fluorophore and both present intramolecular excited state proton transfer at intermediate pH ranges. One of the ligands (L2) strongly coordinates Zn(II) leading to fluorescence quenching. The synthesis from triazolopyridines 1, of novel triazolopyridylcarbonylpyridylcarbonyltriazolopyridines (TPyCOPyCOTPy) (tpcpctp) 7, and polypyridylcarbonylpyridines (pPyCOPy) (ppcp) 14, building blocks in supramolecular chemistry, is described. These compounds are interesting polynitrogenated ligands as potential molecular sensors, new magnetic materials, single molecular magnets, or in the emerging science of nanomaterials. We were interested in synthesis of P-stereogenic ligands derived from calix[4]arene and in their application in asymmetric catalysis. Mono et diphosphines were prepared on the upper rim of the macrocyle starting from the mono or dianion of the calix[4]arene and chlorophosphines borane or the oxazaphospholidine borane complex. The best selectivity was obtained by reaction of the dianion with the oxazaphospholidine borane complex leading to a bisaminophosphine borane. After acidolysis with HCl giving the corresponding bischlorophosphine and reaction with organolithium reagents, diphosphines diborane were obtained with good yields (40 à 60 %). Background GP-BAR1, a member G protein coupled receptor superfamily, is a cell surface bile acid-activated receptor highly expressed in the ileum and colon. In monocytes, ligation of GP-BAR1 by secondary bile acids results in a cAMP-dependent attenuation of cytokine generation. Aims To investigate the role GP-BAR1 in regulating intestinal homeostasis and inflammation-driven immune dysfunction in rodent models of colitis. Green synthesis of nanomaterials finds the edge over chemical methods due to its environmental compatibility. Herein, we report a facile and eco-friendly method for the synthesis of palladium (Pd) nanoparticles (NPs) using an aqueous solution of Pulicaria glutinosa, a plant widely found in a large region of Saudi Arabia, as a bioreductant. Abstract This paper reports on the synthesis of Org2058-bonded microparticulate silicas and their use in affinity chromatography as the first step for the purification of human progesterone receptor. The development of microprocessor-controlled instruments allows all the various steps to be performed automatically. The various steps used for the purification of human progesterone receptor were carried out with the FPLC system: (1) affinity chromatography, (2) desalting of eluate on Sephadex G-25, (3) anion-exchange chromatography using a Mono Q column.
