Applying Genre-Based Ontologies to Enterprise Architecture
2007
This paper elaborates the approach of using ontologies as a conceptual base for enterprise architecture (EA) descriptions. The method focuses on recognising and modelling business critical information concepts, their content, and semantics used to operate the business. Communication genres and open and semi-structured information need interviews are used as a domain analysis method. Ontologies aim to explicate the results of domain analysis and to provide a common reference model for Business Information Architecture (BIA) descriptions. The results are generalised to model further aspects of EA. peerReviewed
Collaborative Business Model Innovation Process for Networked Services
2013
This paper presents a process framework for innovating joint business models (co-BM) for multiple companies. Our framework describes the change management that should be carried out in parallel to the rigorous analysis and development of the business model details. With two illustrative cases we show that fruitful co-BM creation process in networks requires both development of the model itself, but also organizational innovation processes including mutual learning and harmonisation of operations. We claim that by understanding this dual process and its key facets might help (1) to coordinate the practical BM creation projects better and (2) to analyse which BM related decisions contribute o…
Nonverbal synchrony in couple therapy linked to clients’ well-being and the therapeutic alliance
2021
Nonverbal synchrony between individuals has a robust relation to the positive aspects of relationships. In psychotherapy, where talking is the cure, nonverbal synchrony has been related to a positive outcome of therapy and to a stronger therapeutic alliance between therapist and client in dyadic settings. Only a few studies have focused on nonverbal synchrony in multi-actor therapy conversations. Here, we studied the synchrony of head and body movements in couple therapy, with four participants present (spouses and two therapists). We analyzed more than 2000min of couple therapy videos from 11 couple therapy cases using Motion Energy Analysis and a Surrogate Synchrony (SUSY), a procedure us…
Climate Change Mitigation Potentials of Carbon Labels in the Aviation Industry
2018
This chapter discusses the climate change mitigation potentials of carbon labels in the aviation industry. As this study shows, there are significant differences in the environmental performance of individual flights, even when operated on the same route or by the same airline. Selecting one flight over another can significantly reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of a single air passenger. Nevertheless, the currently available measures, such as carbon calculators, are not capable of presenting these differences, leaving air passengers with no means of comparing individual flights. Therefore, the use of carbon labels could be highly beneficial because it would give air passengers the opport…
Financial aspects of business models : reducing costs and increasing revenues in a cloud context
2018
The emergence of cloud computing induces opportunities for software vendors and for organizations with great storage needs. Indeed, software companies have begun to adopt cloud technologies and offer their software as a service to customers instead of selling software products. As a result, their revenue models have changed, and the diversity and complexity of the resulting pricing models have created both opportunities and impediments to competition in the market. On the other hand, due to the exponentially growing volume of digital content, organizations have an increasing demand for storage and need to choose between private, public, and hybrid storage solutions. This decision requires c…
Functional and Structural Roles of Data in Service Ecosystems
2023
Data play an increasingly important role in today’s service ecosystems, where actors integrate resources to create value at different levels of aggregation (micro, meso, macro). To advance our understanding of the role of data in such contemporary data-rich service ecosystems, we draw on the service-dominant (S-D) logic and data ecosystem literature. Extending the current understanding of data in the literature, we demonstrate how data and data ecosystems have become intertwined with service ecosystems and how data as a meta-resource connects actors, enhances systemic visibility, and drives innovation in these ecosystems. peerReviewed
Reproducibility of Rolandic beta rhythm modulation in MEG and EEG
2022
The Rolandic beta rhythm, at ∼20 Hz, is generated in the somatosensory and motor cortices and is modulated by motor activity and sensory stimuli, causing a short lasting suppression that is followed by a rebound of the beta rhythm. The rebound reflects inhibitory changes in the primary sensorimotor (SMI) cortex, and thus it has been used as a biomarker to follow the recovery of patients with acute stroke. The longitudinal stability of beta rhythm modulation is a prerequisite for its use in long-term follow-ups. We quantified the reproducibility of beta rhythm modulation in healthy subjects in a 1-year-longitudinal study both for MEG and EEG at T0, 1 month (T1-month, n = 8) and 1 year (T1-ye…

On the (In)Security of 1090ES and UAT978 Mobile Cockpit Information Systems : An Attacker Perspective on the Availability of ADS-B Safety- and Missio…
2022
Automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) is a key air surveillance technology and a critical component of next-generation air transportation systems. It significantly simplifies aircraft surveillance technology and improves airborne traffic situational awareness. Many types of mobile cockpit information systems (MCISs) are based on ADS-B technology. MCIS gives pilots the flight and traffic-related information they need. MCIS has two parts: an ADS-B transceiver and an electronic flight bag (EFB) application. The ADS-B transceivers transmit and receive the ADS-B radio signals while the EFB applications hosted on mobile phones display the data. Because they are cheap, lightweight, an…
