How can artistic intervention facilitate empathic engagement with work-related uncertainty in postgraduate management education? To examine this, we theorize artistic intervention as creating an interspace of temporarily suspended organizational norms through which empathy as relational knowing can emerge between participants. Tutkimukseni tarkoituksena on analysoida perhesiteen merkitystä ilman huoltajaa tulleen alaikäisen turvapaikanhakijan turvapaikkaprosessissa. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys paikantuu liminaalisuuteen ja perheeseen. Liminaalisuus tarkoittaa sitä välitilaa, jossa alaikäinen turvapaikanhakija elää turvapaikkaprosessinsa aikana ennen oleskelulupapäätöksen varmistumista. Ilman huoltajaa tulleiden alaikäisten elämästä liminaalitilassa on aiempaa tutkimusta, samoin aiemmin on tutkittu myös maahanmuuttajataustaisten perhekäsityksiä. Tarkastelen artikkelissa siirtymätilaa kahden eri kirjoittamisen lajin välillä autoetnografian keinoin. Aineistona on tutkimusprosessin ajan pitämäni työpäiväkirja, jota analysoin temaattisella sisällönanalyysilla. Siirtymätilan lisäksi olen kuvannut työpäiväkirjan merkitystä, havaintojen tekemistä ja työpäiväkirjassa välittyvää mielen näyttämöä. Tutkimus tuo keskusteluun yhden näkökulman siitä, missä mieli ja huomio askaroivat siirtymätilan aikana ja mikä helpottaa lajin muutosta ja itselle uudenlaiseen kirjoittamisen tilaan pääsemistä. peerReviewed

Sublime and grotesque : exploring the liminal positioning of clowns between oppositional aesthetic categories

The horror clown is a potential rooted in the liminalities that are an integral part of the clown figure per se. Drawing on anthropological work and the study of popular culture, this paper argues that clowns can be placed between different dualistic frames such as the sacred and the profane, the sublime and the grotesque, and fear and disgust. This positioning and the ways in which clowns operate between these categories are transmitted aesthetically. This article brings together two concepts, ‘phantom fat’ and ‘liminal fat’, which both aim to grasp how fat in contemporary culture becomes a kind of material immateriality, corporeality in suspension. Comparing the spheres of representation and experience, we examine the challenges and usefulness of these concepts, and feminist fat studies perspectives more broadly, to feminist scholarship on the body. We ask what connects and disconnects fat corporeality and fat studies from ways of theorising other embodied differences, like gender, ‘race’, disability, class and sexuality, especially when thinking through their perceived mutability or removability, and assumptions about their relevance …

In this dissertation, I study the observance of holy days among the peasantry in the early modern province of Savo, located on the eastern periphery of the Swedish kingdom (today Eastern Finland). I examine the practices, norms and meanings related to the observance of holy days both within and outside the Church, and analyse the changes and continuities in the post-reformation period. As the main sources of the study, I use district court records and visitation records mainly from the period 1639–1712. The emergence of liminal cyberspace : challenges for the ontological work in cybersecurity

This philosophy-oriented paper examines cybersecurity and its ontological work in relation to spaces which are created by conventional perimeter security model and Zero Trust model. We argue that security works by a code of inclusion and exclusion, e.g., an individual user seeking access is either included or excluded in relation to the system. Therefore, cybersecurity divides the space through employing the code of inclusion/exclusion which directly affects the agency of users.
