Lower bound limit analysis by bem: Convex optimization problem and incremental approach

Abstract The lower bound limit approach of the classical plasticity theory is rephrased using the Multidomain Symmetric Galerkin Boundary Element Method, under conditions of plane and initial strains, ideal plasticity and associated flow rule. The new formulation couples a multidomain procedure with nonlinear programming techniques and defines the self-equilibrium stress field by an equation involving all the substructures (bem-elements) of the discretized system. Predictive control of convex polyhedron LPV systems with Markov jumping parameters

The problem of receding horizon predictive control of stochastic linear parameter varying systems is discussed. First, constant coefficient matrices are obtained at each vertex in the interior of linear parameter varying system, and then, by considering semi-definite programming constraints, weight coefficients between each vertex are calculated, and the equal coefficients matrices for the time variable system are obtained. Coupled fixed-point results for T-contractions on cone metric spaces with applications

The notion of coupled fixed point was introduced in 2006 by Bhaskar and Lakshmikantham. On the other hand, Filipovićet al. [M. Filipovićet al., “Remarks on “Cone metric spaces and fixed-point theorems of T-Kannan and T-Chatterjea contractive mappings”,” Math. Comput. Modelling 54, 1467–1472 (2011)] proved several fixed and periodic point theorems for solid cones on cone metric spaces. In this paper we prove some coupled fixed-point theorems for certain T-contractions and study the existence of solutions of a system of nonlinear integral equations using the results of our work. The results of this paper extend and generalize well-known comparable results in the literature.

Multiple solutions for semilinear Robin problems with superlinear reaction and no symmetries

We study a semilinear Robin problem driven by the Laplacian with a parametric superlinear reaction. Using variational tools from the critical point theory with truncation and comparison techniques, critical groups and flow invariance arguments, we show the existence of seven nontrivial smooth solutions, all with sign information and ordered.

The need for fast product delivery causes the attention of supply chain is addressed to strategies able to optimize the distribution process. In this field the crossdocking seems to be an efficient strategy which makes possible to reduce or eliminate the storage phase by meeting customer demand. In this paper a transshipment problem for cross-docking strategy is considered by means of a deterministic model studied through the non linear programming technique. Single- and Double-Strand Breaks of Dry DNA Exposed to Protons at Bragg-Peak Energies

International audience; Ultrathin layers (<20 nm) of pBR322 plasmid DNA were deposited onto 2.5 μm thick polyester films and exposed to proton Bragg-peak energies (90–3000 keV) at various fluences. A quantitative analysis of radio-induced DNA damage is reported here in terms of single- and double-strand breaks (SSB and DSB, respectively). The corresponding yields as well as G-values and the cross sections exhibit fairly good agreement with the rare available data, stemming from close experimental conditions, namely, based on α particle irradiation. Mean speed in professional cycling: No evidence of decline

Abstract The aim of this article was to evaluate the mean speed progression of the three major cycling stage races in order to empirically establish whether excellent in performance in professional cycling is to some extent correlated with the trend of blood doping and anti-doping throughout more than a century of official cycling competitions. We retrieved data about the mean speed of the winners of the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana, since their beginning. Active-passive decentralized H∞ control for adjacent buildings under seismic excitation
