Existence of positive solutions for nonlinear Dirichlet problems with gradient dependence and arbitrary growth

2018

We consider a nonlinear elliptic problem driven by the Dirichlet $p$-Laplacian and a reaction term which depends also on the gradient (convection). No growth condition is imposed on the reaction term $f(z, \cdot,y)$. Using topological tools and the asymptotic analysis of a family of perturbed problems, we prove the existence of a positive smooth solution.

Computation of the lock-in ranges of phase-locked loops with PI filter

2016

In the present work the lock-in range of PLL-based circuits with proportionallyintegrating filter and sinusoidal phase-detector characteristics are studied. Considered circuits have sinusoidal phase detector characteristics. Analytical approach based on the methods of phase plane analysis is applied to estimate the lock-in ranges of the circuits under consideration. Obtained analytical results are compared with simulation results. peerReviewed

Correspondence between generalized binomial field states and coherent atomic states

2008

We show that the N-photon generalized binomial states of electromagnetic field may be put in a bijective mapping with the coherent atomic states of N two-level atoms. We exploit this correspondence to simply obtain both known and new properties of the N-photon generalized binomial states. In particular, an over-complete basis of these binomial states and an orthonormal basis are obtained. Finally, the squeezing properties of generalized binomial state are analyzed.

Novel qutrit circuit design for multiplexer, De-multiplexer, and decoder

2022

AbstractDesigning conventional circuits present many challenges, including minimizing internal power dissipation. An approach to overcoming this problem is utilizing quantum technology, which has attracted significant attention as an alternative to Nanoscale CMOS technology. The reduction of energy dissipation makes quantum circuits an up-and-coming emerging technology. Ternary logic can potentially diminish the quantum circuit width, which is currently a limitation in quantum technologies. Using qutrit instead of qubit could play an essential role in the future of quantum computing. First, we propose two approaches for quantum ternary decoder circuit in this context. Then, we propose a qua…

Vortex dynamics in rotating counterflow and plane Couette and Poiseuille turbulence in superfluid Helium

2008

An equation previously proposed to describe the evolution of vortex line density in rotating counterflow turbulent tangles in superfluid helium is generalized to incorporate nonvanishing barycentric velocity and velocity gradients. Our generalization is compared with an analogous approach proposed by Lipniacki, and with experimental results by Swanson et al. in rotating counterflow, and it is used to evaluate the vortex density in plane Couette and Poiseuille flows of superfluid helium.

High-Gradient RF laboratory at IFIC for medical applications

2018

General interest has been shown over the last years for compact and more affordable facilities for hadron-therapy. The High-Gradient (HG) know-how and technology for normal-conducting accelerating RF (Radio-Frequency) electron linac (linear accelerator) structures recently developed for projects such as CLIC (CERN), has raised the achievable accelerating gradient from 20-30 MV/m up to 100-120 MV/m. This gain has come through a better understanding of the high-power RF vacuum arcs or breakdowns (BD) phenomena, the development of quantitative HG RF design methods and refinements in fabrication techniques. This can allow for more compact linacs also for protons, which is potentially important …

Ensemble methods for ranking data with and without position weights

2020

The main goal of this Thesis is to build suitable Ensemble Methods for ranking data with weights assigned to the items’positions, in the cases of rankings with and without ties. The Thesis begins with the definition of a new rank correlation coefficient, able to take into account the importance of items’position. Inspired by the rank correlation coefficient, τ x , proposed by Emond and Mason (2002) for unweighted rankings and the weighted Kemeny distance proposed by García-Lapresta and Pérez-Román (2010), this work proposes τ x w , a new rank correlation coefficient corresponding to the weighted Kemeny distance. The new coefficient is analized analitically and empirically and represents the main…
