Fake News Spreaders Detection: Sometimes Attention Is Not All You Need

2022

Guided by a corpus linguistics approach, in this article we present a comparative evaluation of State-of-the-Art (SotA) models, with a special focus on Transformers, to address the task of Fake News Spreaders (i.e., users that share Fake News) detection. First, we explore the reference multilingual dataset for the considered task, exploiting corpus linguistics techniques, such as chi-square test, keywords and Word Sketch. Second, we perform experiments on several models for Natural Language Processing. Third, we perform a comparative evaluation using the most recent Transformer-based models (RoBERTa, DistilBERT, BERT, XLNet, ELECTRA, Longformer) and other deep and non-deep SotA models (CNN,…

El Llibre de menescalia de la Societat Castellonenca de Cultura

2017

The library of the Societat Castellonenca de Cultura (Castello de la Plana) keeps a Catalan manuscript on menescalia  (veterinary medicine) virtually unknown to the specialists. Here we provide a diplomatic description, a presentation of its content, and particularly a first linguistic analysis. Our study allows us to locate its elaboration in the mid-14th century within the area of Morella, and to attribute it to a paraire or to a merchant. The manuscript is currently in the process of being edited.

Augstākās izglītības iestādes pētnieciskā profila lingvistiskā analīze

2021

Adapting marketing strategies: a linguistic analysis of wine advertising in Spain, 1970-2010

2019

The Spanish wine sector has undergone a series of changes in the last decades, particularly due to the decreasing domestic demand and the growing international competence. Consequently, Spanish wineries have had to adapt to this new situation by adopting new marketing policies. The aim of this study is to explore to what extent these new policies have been applied by means of the linguistic analysis and comparison of different types of advertisement in specialized printed media, focusing on the specific frequency of the most used word families in adverts from the 70s to present day. A corpus of 640 adverts has been compiled. We have particularly paid attention to the words that have been us…

Darba sludinājumu reģistra analīze

2016

Šī bakalaura darba pētījuma mērķis bija veikt lingvistisko analīzi korpusam, kas sastāvēja no 20 darba sludinājumiem, lai noteiktu lingvistikās iezīmes, kuras raksturo reģistru un palīdz sasniegt tā komunikatīvos mērķus. Bakalaura darba autore veica šo analīzi, izmantojot Baibera un Konrāda (2009) sarakstu ar lingvistikas iezīmēm. Pētījuma rezultāti parādīja, ka pašas izplatītākās iezīmes ir pirmās un otrās personas vietniekvārdi, īpašvārdi, kuri norāda uz valodām,uzņēmumu nosaukumiem, atvasināti un pamata formas īpašības vārdi, vairāku vārdu leksiskie darbības vārdi. Strategy and business history rejoined : How and why strategic management concepts took over business history

2022

Scholars at the intersection of business history and strategic management have argued for the relevance and importance of historical methods in the study of strategic management of organizations. We flip this argument and ask about the role of strategic management concepts in the study of business history. We analyze volumes of Business History and Business History Review and a representative sample of business history books using a comprehensive set of keywords, each related to a specific sub-discourse in strategic management. Our results show that as scientific communities, business history and strategic management have become increasingly similar in their conceptual overlap. This study c…
