L’Atlante Linguistico della Sicilia ha adottato, già una decina di anni fa, lo strumento del dizionario-atlante. Integrating the Real and Virtual World for Academic Language Education in Second Life

This chapter focuses on a Second Language Acquisition (SLA) study conducted in virtual worlds that could help teachers in terms of knowledge about acquisition processes, in which technology is integration between formal and non formal education. The research comprises of two studies strongly focused on the development of Italian oral language proficiency. It was held within Second Life® (SL™)1 in order to explore the affordances of public spaces to enhance Intercultural Communicative Competence (ICC)2 and to stimulate the oral production through learner’s engagement. The ‘Homeric Greek Compounds Project’ is a linguistic research project partially funded by the University of Palermo FFR-2012-ATE-0164 (2013-2015). The project aims at creating a free open-access online database containing the Homeric compounds found in the Iliad and the Odyssey. Lexical aspect and morphosyntactic cohesion between motion verbs and spatial particles in Homeric Greek

The aim of this paper is to investigate a rather neglected topic in motion event studies, i.e. the role that lexical aspect (i.e. Aktionsart) plays in motion event encoding in Homeric Greek. Building on the theoretical framework of Talmy (1985, 1991, 2000, 2009), this work focuses on the role that telicity (Vendler 1967), as a verb-inherent semantic feature, plays in the distribution of motion verbs and co-occurring spatial particles as well as in their different mutual morphosyntactic cohesion.
