Closterocerus chamaeleon (Girault) (Hymenoptera Eulophidae), parasitoid of the Eucalyptus gall wasp Ophelimus maskelli (Ashmead) (Hymenoptera Eulophidae) has been recorded for the first time in Tunisia in July 2007. This record suggests that 14 months after its release in Sicily, in May 2006, it has spread over Sicily Channel.

Karyological data of some plant species native to South Italy

The somatic chromosome number, karyotype morphology, geographical distribution and ecology of five plant species from the indigenous flora of southern Italy and Sicily are presented. The study includes in particular four species of Allium subgen. Allium (Allium agrigentinum, A. apulum, A. diomedeum, A. chamaespathum), Ptilostemon greuteri and Salvia ceratophylloides. Five out six of these species are strict endemics and all of them are very rare and differently threatened based on the IUCN criteria. Karyotype microphotographs for all taxa are provided and their karyotype morphology is discussed.

Abstract: This paper presents three brief reading notes on as many passages of the Filostrato (IV 51:1-8; IV 56, 4-8) and the Ninfale fiesolano (229, 1-5) by Giovanni Boccaccio, in the search for probable classical and medieval latin sources and models that have so far escaped the attention of scholars.

Gli inni a Venere di Troiolo (Filostr. 3.74-89) e di Panfilo (Pamph. 1-70)

Nel saggio in questione viene proposto un inedito parallelo fra l’inno che Troiolo indirizza alla dea Venere, nel «Filostrato» di Giovanni Boccaccio (Filostr. 3.74-89) e l’inno che Panfilo, nella commedia elegiaca «Pamphilus», indirizza alla stessa dea dell’amore (Pamph. 1-70). Oltre a fornire una puntuale analisi dei punti di contatto fra i due testi, vengono inoltre avanzate alcune considerazioni sul valore e il significato che la figura della dea Venere assume nelle opere del Boccaccio.
