Quantification of Imidacloprid in Honeybees: Development of a Chemiluminescent ELISA

A Chemiluminescente Enzyme-Linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay (CL-ELISA) for determination and quantification of the fungicide imidacloprid in honeybees was developed in an indirect competitive format. The assay was optimized by determining: the optimal coating conjugate concentration and anti-imidacloprid antiserum dilution, the effect of the incubation time on the competitive step, the tolerance to organic solvents. The IC50 and the limit of detection (LOD) values were 14.8 ng mL-1 and 0.11 ng mL -1, respectively, similar to those of colorimetric ELISA with a calibration range of 0.1 – 2600 ng mL-1. Chemiluminometric determination of the pesticide 3-indolyl acetic acid by a flow injection analysis assembly

Abstract A new method is proposed for the chemiluminescent determination of the pesticide 3-indolyl acetic acid by means of an flow injection analysis system. The chemiluminescence emission is obtained by oxidation of the analyte with Ce (IV) in nitric acid and presence of β-cyclodextrine. The continuous-flow method allows the determination of 159 samples h−1 of 3-indolyl acetic acid in an interval of concentrations over the range 0.5–15.0 mg l−1. The limit of detection was 0.1 μg l−1 and the R.S.D. (n, 17) at 2.0 mg l−1 of the pesticide level was 2.7%. The method was applied to water samples.

A bioluminescence technique for quantitative and structure-associated imaging of pyruvate

A novel bioluminescence assay has been developed for measuring pyruvate within sections of snap-frozen tissue in a quantitative manner as well as with a spatial resolution on a microscopical level. The assay was verified via HPLC and two independent photometric tests. The novel assay makes it possible to determine pyruvate concentrations in cryosections in the range of 0-5.0 micromol/g tissue (dry weight). Based on the analysis of samples of given pyruvate concentrations, the assay exhibits a recovery with a deviationor =15%. Photoluminescence in Carborane–Stilbene Triads : A Structural, Spectroscopic, and Computational Study

A set of triads in which o- and m-carborane clusters are bonded to two stilbene units through Ccluster -CH2 bonds was synthesized, and their structures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction. A study on the influence of the o- and m- isomers on the absorption and photoluminescence properties of the stilbene units in solution revealed no charge-transfer contributions in the lowest excited state, as confirmed by (TD)DFT calculations. Unraveling the strain state of GaN down to single nanowires

International audience; GaN nanowires (NWs) grown by molecular beam epitaxy are usually assumed free of strain in spite of different individual luminescence signatures. To ascertain this usual assumption, the c/a of a GaN NW assembly has been characterized using both X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy, with scaling the measurement down to the single NW. Free-standing single NWs have been observed free of strain-defined as [c/a = (c/a)(o)]/(c/a)(o)-within the experimental accuracy amounting to 1.25 x 10(-4). Experimental and theoretical study of the energetic, morphological, and photoluminescence properties of CaZrO3:Eu3+

In this study, we present a combined experimental and theoretical study of the geometry, electronic structure, morphology, and photoluminescence properties of CaZrO3:Eu3+ materials. The polymeric precursor method was employed to synthesize CaZrO3:Eu3+ crystals, while density functional theory calculations were performed to determine the geometrical and electronic properties of CaZrO3:Eu3+ in its ground and excited electronic states (singlet and triplet). The goal of this work is to show the capability of X-ray multiple diffraction (XRMD) to be used in combination with high resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) and cathodoluminescence (CL) as an easy and simple methodology to determine structural and surface defect-related characteristics of samples that could be used as substrates for epitaxial growth. For this study ZnO {0001}-oriented samples have been used in view of their use as substrates for homoepitaxy. An XRD, TEM and Raman study of experimentally annealed natural monazite

The healing of radiation damage in natural monazite has been experimentally studied in annealing experiments using XRD, TEM, Raman microprobe and cathodoluminescence analysis. The starting material was a chemically homogeneous monazite from a Brazilian pegmatite with a concordant U–Pb age of 474 ± 1 Ma and a U–Th/He age of 479 Ma. The monazite shows nm-scale defects induced by radioactive decay. The Xray pattern of the unheated starting material revealed two distinct monazite ''phases'' A and B with slightly different lattice parameters.
