Artikkelissa luomme katsauksen vammaisten lasten tutkimuksessa tapahtuneisiin tutkimusparadigman muutoksiin. Pohdimme, millaiset vammaisuuteen liittyvät käsitykset ja määritelmät vaikuttavat siihen, miten tutkimme ”vammaista lasta”. Tarkastelemme muutoksia vammaisuuden määrittelyssä ja määrittelyjen vaikutuksia käytäntöihin erityisesti koulutuksellisen inkluusion kontekstissa. The representation of Jews in the Finnish press before the second world war

This article focuses on the representation of Jews in the Finnish general press before the Second World War. The data comprise of 313 texts gathered from newspapers and magazines that were targeted at general audiences and that appeared between the years 1821–1936. The texts were examined on three levels: First, the upfront topics pertaining to Jews were identified and grouped under 12 themes. Second, the tone of the mentions was evaluated as positive, neutral, or negative. Third, underlying assumptions, opinions and attitudes expressed aside the upfront topics were identified from the texts. BACKGROUND: Since Darwin's pioneering work, evolutionary changes in isolated island populations of vertebrates have continued to provide the strongest evidence for the theory of natural selection. Besides macro-evolutionary changes, micro-evolutionary changes and the relative importance of natural selection vs. genetic drift are under intense investigation. Altruistic behaviour, which benefits others but harms the actor, can evolve when copies of the underlying genes are transmitted to future generations by related beneficiaries. While we know that the mechanism of ‘kin selection’ answers to how altruism can evolve, the answers to why and when it can evolve are still obscure. The first aim of this thesis is to shed light to the evolution of altruism by identifying factors that facilitate or promote it.
