Morphological analysis of human cortical bone using high-resolution X-ray microtomography

Structural and elastic properties of bone are related to microstructural parameters such as porosity and anisotropy. Microtomography (μCT) enables assessment of bone microstructural geometry, typically down to a voxel size of 5 microns. The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate whether using a higher (sub-micrometer) voxel resolution in X-ray μCT enables detection of new, finer, details in human cortical bone. Meta-analysis of the relationship between teachers’ self-efficacy and attitudes toward inclusive education

This meta-study aims to examine the size of the relationship between teachers' self-efficacy and attitudes toward inclusive education of K-12 students with special educational needs and to identify potential moderators (publication, sample, and research procedure characteristics). We synthesized the research conducted from 1994 to 2018, and 41 studies were included. Bare-bones meta-analysis with random effect model revealed a sample size weighted correlation coefficient between teachers’ self-efficacy and attitudes as r¯ = 0.35 (CI = 0.31-0.39). Opetuksen eriyttäminen on ajankohtainen ja paljon keskusteltu aihe inklusiivi-sessa koulumaailmassa. Perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman perusteet velvoittaa opettajaa eriyttämään opetustaan. Lisäksi kolmiportainen tukimalli tuo kouluihin eriyttämisen tarpeen. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää Jyväskylän yliopiston opintojensa loppuvaiheessa olevien luokanopettajaopiskelijoiden käsityksiä eriyttämisestä. Legacy system evolution - A comparative study of modernisation and replacement initiation factors

Decisions regarding information system evolution strategy become topical as the organisation’s information systems age and start to approach the end of their life cycle. An interview study was conducted in order to compare factors influencing modernisation and replacement initiation. System age, obsolete technology and high operation or maintenance costs were identified as triggers for both modernisation and replacement projects. The results show that the most prevalent individual reason for modernisation initiative is business development. Characterisation of peripheral bone mineral density in youth at risk of secondary osteoporosis : a preliminary insight

Objectives: To describe peripheral long bone material and structural differences in youth at risk of secondary osteoporosis across disease-specific profiles. Methods: Upper- and lower limbs of children and adolescents were scanned at 4% distal and 66% mid-shaft sites using peripheral Quantitative Computed Tomography sub-categorised as (1) increased risk of secondary osteoporosis (neuromuscular disorders; chronic diseases; endocrine diseases; inborn errors of metabolism; iatrogenic conditions), (2) low motor competence and (3) non-affected controls.
