This chapter contributes to the ongoing discussion about rural belonging by considering the role of historical consciousness (Rüsen, 2004) in the process of belonging in a place. The chapter suggests that young people’s temporal orientation in relation to local culture and history plays a significant role in their commitment to rural communities. Olen tutkielmassani kiinnostunut siitä, miksi maaseudun tapahtumanjärjestäjät tekevät tai eivät tee yhteistyötä, jonka toinen osapuoli toimii toisella paikkakunnalla. Tapahtumatuotantojen rakenne on usein verkostomainen, joustava ja tuotannon luonteeseen kuuluu laadultaan ja määrältään vaihteleva resurssitarve tuotannon eri vaiheissa. Yhteistyö on monelle tapahtumanjärjestäjälle luonteva tapa täydentää oman organisaation rajallisia resursseja tapahtumatuotannon lyhytaikaiseen tarpeeseen, vaikka yhteistyöhön liittyy aina myös riskejä.
