An exact method for the determination of differential leakage factors in electrical machines with non-symmetrical windings
2016
An exact and simple method for the determination of differential leakage factors in polyphase ac electrical machines with non-symmetrical windings is presented in this paper. The method relies on the properties of Gorges polygons that are used to transform an infinite series expressing the differential leakage factor into a finite sum in order to significantly simplify the calculations. Some examples are shown and discussed in order to practically demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Novel multipactor studies in RF satellite payloads: Single-carrier digital modulated signals and ferrite materials
2017
In this work it is reviewed the most novel advances in the multipactor RF breakdown risk assessment devoted to RF satellite microwave passive devices employed in space telecommunication systems. On one side, it is studied the effect of transmitting a single-carrier digital modulated signal in the multipactor RF voltage threshold in a coaxial line. On the other hand, an analysis of the multipactor phenomenon in a parallel-plate waveguide containing a magnetized ferrite slab it is presented.
Pre- and syn-eruptive geochemistry of volcanic gases from Soufriere Hills of Montserrat, West Indies
1998
International audience; Soufriere Hills fumaroles contained magmaderived volatiles before and during the eruption initiated in 1995 but also preserved a typical and quite steady hydrothermal coinposition. Chemical changes due to increased boiling and a greater input of oxidizing magmatic gas occurred only at Galway's Soufriere, the most active fumarolic field. Hydrothermal buffering of the fumaroles has been favoured by their remote location (!-2 km) froin the eruptive vents and by a preferential degassing of the uprising magma through intrusive conduits under the crater. High temperature (720øC) gas collected froin the extruding lava dome in Feb. 1996 was chemically and isotopically repres…
Revision: Indicadores del deterioro de la calidad proteica y del valor nutritivo de la leche / Review: Indicators of damage of protein quality and nu…
1999
The nutritional value of milk can be negatively affected by thermal treatments. The quality of the proteins can be modified as a consequence of a set of reactions, the most important of which are the interactions between protein and carbohydrates, also known as Maillard reactions. These reactions can also occur when the storage conditions of moisture and temperature are unfavorable. The differ ent thermal treatments involved in processing milk (pasteurization, sterilization, drying, etc.) lead to different steps of the Maillard reaction and therefore to the formation of different compounds that can be useful as chemical markers of milk alteration, or more exactly of protein alteration. Est…
WarpDrive: Massively Parallel Hashing on Multi-GPU Nodes
2018
Hash maps are among the most versatile data structures in computer science because of their compact data layout and expected constant time complexity for insertion and querying. However, associated memory access patterns during the probing phase are highly irregular resulting in strongly memory-bound implementations. Massively parallel accelerators such as CUDA-enabled GPUs may overcome this limitation by virtue of their fast video memory featuring almost one TB/s bandwidth in comparison to main memory modules of state-of-the-art CPUs with less than 100 GB/s. Unfortunately, the size of hash maps supported by existing single-GPU hashing implementations is restricted by the limited amount of …
Time-varying Sampled-data Observer with Asynchronous Measurements
2019
International audience; In this paper a time-varying observer for a linear continuous-time plant with asynchronous sampled measurements is proposed. The observer is contextualized in the hybrid systems framework providing an elegant setting for the proposed solution. In particular some theoretical tools are provided, in terms of LMIs, certifying asymptotic stability of a certain compact set where the estimation error is zero. We consider sampled asynchronous measurements that occur at arbitrary times in a certain window with an upper and lower bound. The design procedure, that we propose for the selection of the time-varying gain, is based on a constructive algorithm that is guaranteed to f…
Dissipativity-Based Small-Gain Theorems for Stochastic Network Systems
2016
In this paper, some small-gain theorems are proposed for stochastic network systems which describe large-scale systems with interconnections, uncertainties and random disturbances. By the aid of conditional dissipativity and showing times of stochastic interval, small-gain conditions proposed for the deterministic case are extended to the stochastic case. When some design parameters are tunable in practice, we invaginate a simpler method to verify small-gain condition by selecting one subsystem as a monitor. Compared with the existing results, the existence-and-uniqueness of solution and ultimate uniform boundedness of input are removed from requirements of input-to-state stability and smal…
Effect of Food Thermal Processing on the Composition of the Gut Microbiota.
2018
Cooking modifies food composition due to chemical reactions. Additionally, food composition shapes the human gut microbiota. Thus, the objective of this research was to unravel the effect of different food cooking methods on the structure and functionality of the gut microbiota. Common culinary techniques were applied to five foods, which were submitted to in vitro digestion-fermentation. Furosine, 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural, and furfural were used as Maillard reaction indicators to control the heat treatment. Short-chain fatty acids production was quantified as indicator of healthy metabolic output. Gut microbial community structure was analyzed through 16S rRNA. Both food composition and c…
