New Voices from Intersecting Identities Among International Students Around the World

In this article, we introduce our special issue, “International students’ lived experiences in the era unprecedented uncertainty and challenges: New voices from intersectional identities.” Our motivation and intention for this special issue, the focus, and the overall methodological approach are discussed. In addition to presenting the contributions of each article to this issue, we also discuss what we (all authors of this special issue) try to talk and how our voices are reflecting our unique experiences of coming to the new counties and leaving where we lived as international students by unfolding our stories and multiple identities that are intersecting while we experienced.

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli ottaa selvää, mitä mieltä ruotsin opiskelijat ovat kieliharjoittelusta, joka on pakollinen osa ruotsin aineopintoja. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin, mitkä seikat vaikuttavat kieliharjoittelutavan valintaan, millaista hyötyä opiskelijat kokevat saaneensa kieliharjoittelusta ja kuinka positiiviseksi opiskelijat arvioivat harjoittelun kokemuksena. Lisäksi tutkittiin opiskelijoiden kielitaidon kehitystä itsearviointien avulla sekä opiskelijoiden mielipiteitä harjoittelun tavoitteiden toteutumisesta. Tutkimukseen osallistui 19 henkilöä. The essay studies the aspects of Albanian literature of socialist realism through a comparative survey on the novels of the greatest Albanian writer.

L'avventura editoriale della letteratura albanese in Italia: il caso di Ismail Kadare

The paper reconstructs the arduous journey made by Ismail Kadare's fiction from the early 1970s to the present day, focusing attention on various quest-ions that regard the translation of Kadare's work into over 40 languages. The analysis focuses in particular on the mediation of French in translations of his work and on Kadare's reception in Italy. In addition to providing a detailed account of the works translated so far, the author traces the possible path for future translations, highlighting the gaps in Italian versions of his works and the complexity of the latest authorial versions. Electronic correspondence is a highly dynamic genre within the business world in which Register Variation (RV) is frequently used as a tool to improve communication but it often can lead to misunderstanding. In order to shed some light on this still unexplored area, the present study firstly offers a practical approach to classify and analyse RV within professional communication. After this, it reviews previous studies on email writing to apply their findings to this approach and, in the third part of the study, a corpus of recent business emails in English is analysed to examine how the key parameters of RV are currently used within this genre.
