Telomere length and cardiovascular disease
2010
SummaryTelomeres are structures composed of deoxyribonucleic acid repeats that protect the end of chromosomes, but shorten with each cell division. They have been the subject of many studies, particularly in the field of oncology, and more recently their role in the onset, development and prognosis of cardiovascular disease has generated considerable interest. It has already been shown that these structures may deteriorate at the beginning of the atherosclerotic process, in the onset and development of arterial hypertension or during myocardial infarction, in which their length may be a predictor of outcome. As telomere length by its nature is a marker of cell senescence, it is of particula…
2019
‘Flavescence dorée’ is a contagious and incurable disease present on the vine leaves. The DAMAV project (Automatic detection of Vine Diseases) aims to develop a solution for automated detection of vine diseases using a micro-drone. The goal is to offer a turnkey solution for wine growers. This tool will allow the search for potential foci, and then more generally any type of detectable vine disease on the foliage. To enable this diagnosis, the foliage is proposed to be studied using a dedicated high-resolution multispectral camera. The objective of this PhD-thesis in the context of DAMAV is to participate in the design and implementation of a Multi-Spectral (MS) image acquisition system and …

2006
From 1936 onwards, the CGT does its transition from a vanguard trade-union to a mass trade-unionism. As a consequence of the Spring 1936 massive strikes, the CGT appeal a lot of new adherents and then become a real representative organisation. Jointly with the government social policy, CGT develops a trade unionism of services. One of these organisations is the Institute of professional diseases prevention who become a new achievement of French trade union strategy for health and workers protection.
Lipopolysaccharides and glucagon-like peptide 1 : from molecular mechanisms to pathophysiology
2016
Obesity and type 2 diabetes are metabolic diseases which have reached epidemic proportions worldwide. These metabolic disorders are related to a low grade inflammation whose molecular origin is still unknown. Previous studies have highlighted the involvement of the gut microbiota and especially components of the cell wall of Gram(-) bacteria: lipopolysaccharides (LPS). We have recently shown that LPS enhance glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) plasma levels, a hormone which is known to stimulate insulin secretion. Moreover there would be a link between the nutritional qualities of food and LPS plasma levels. Thus diet, LPS and GLP-1 may be closely related. The present work focuses on i) the mol…

Use of hospital and amubutory data in assessment of screnning, follow-up and complications of diabetes mellitus
2017
Diabetes is a priority health target worldwide. Access to conclusive data is equally a priority in order to establish clear objectives and to implement coordinated action. Medico-administrative databases are being used more and more frequently for this purpose. We set out to illustrate and assess the interest of using a French healthcare consumption database to evaluate screening, surveillance and the risk of acute or chronic complications of diabetes in certain at-risk populations. We concluded that early screening for type-2 diabetes in women with a history of gestational diabetes was inadequate. Although a slight improvement occurred following the recommendations published in 2010, one w…
