This thesis deals with a new automated tridimensional inspection system for specular metallic surfaces, based on polarization analysis. We first present an extension of the ‘Shape from Polarization' method for dielectric to metallic surfaces. After being reflected, an unpolarized light wave becomes partially linearly polarized, depending on the surface normal and on the refractive index of the media it impinges on. Hence, by measuring the polarization parameters of the reflected light, the surface normals are computed. Inbreeding can lead to the expression of deleterious recessive alleles and to a subsequent fitness reduction. In Hymenoptera, deleterious alleles are purged in haploid males moderating inbreeding costs. However, in these haplo-diploid species, inbreeding can result in the production of sterile diploid males. We investigated the effects of inbreeding on the individual and colony level in field colonies of the highly inbred ant Hypoponera opacior. Mikro- un mezoplastmasas piesārņojums Baltijas jūras un Rīgas līča Latvijas piekrastes pludmales zonā

Maģistra darbā ir aprakstīta mikroplastmasa un tās ietekme uz apkārtējo vidi un dzīvajiem organismiem. Tiek iepazīti dažādie mikroplastmasas veidi, kā arī apskatīti līdzīgi pētījumu piemēri no citām valstīm. Darba eksperimentālā daļa realizēta laikā no 2021. gada maijam līdz 2021. gada augustam. Tika ievākti 68 mikro- un mezoplastmasas paraugi, 25 granulometrijas paraugi, 25 tukšie jeb kvalitātes kontroles paraugi Baltijas jūras un Rīgas līča Latvijas piekrastes pludmales zonās. Darba ietvaros mikroplastmasas paraugi tika grupēti, kartēti un analizēti, lai noskaidrotu sakarības starp piesārņojuma daudzumu un teritorijas izmantošanas rekreācijā intensitāti.
