I rimboschimenti di cedro dell’Atlante [Cedrus atlantica (Endl.) Manetti ex Carrière] in Sicilia

2012

Immunoproteasome LMP2 60HH Variant Alters MBP Epitope Generation and Reduces the Risk to Develop Multiple Sclerosis in Italian Female Population

2010

BackgroundAlbeit several studies pointed out the pivotal role that CD4+T cells have in Multiple Sclerosis, the CD8+ T cells involvement in the pathology is still in its early phases of investigation. Proteasome degradation is the key step in the production of MHC class I-restricted epitopes and therefore its activity could be an important element in the activation and regulation of autoreactive CD8+ T cells in Multiple Sclerosis.Methodology/principal findingsImmunoproteasomes and PA28-alphabeta regulator are present in MS affected brain area and accumulated in plaques. They are expressed in cell types supposed to be involved in MS development such as neurons, endothelial cells, oligodendroc…

Nel silenzio di Manet

2017

The absence of instruments and players in the famous “Musique aux Tuileries” (1862) of Édouard Manet, where he represents himself and his own entourage, remains an unsolved problem. On the one hand, the article offers a possible solution of this oddness considering the lack of interest on music in the context of the repertoire. On the other hand, from an aesthetic point of view, the exclusion of musicians from the scene could be explained through the fall of the “aura”. Whatever it may be, the rejection of music marks a separation between the primitive concept of mass music, i.e., the classical repertoire played at the garden of Tuileries, and the future avant-garde.

TCP Performance in Mobile Ad hoc Networks

2013

International audience; In this paper, we present a survey of TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) protocol for better performance in the MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network). After a short presentation of the main features of TCP, we give the most important problems from which TCP suffer in MANET. We present after that some approaches proposed in the literature in order to improve its performance. Our paper contains also a performance evaluation of TCP NewReno and TCP Vegas transport protocols under AODV and DSR routing protocols. The simulations are conducted under varying conditions of number of TCP connections, number of nodes and mobility.

Paths from socioemotional behavior in middle childhood to personality in middle adulthood.

2012

Continuity in individual differences from socioemotional behavior in middle childhood to personality characteristics in middle adulthood was examined on the assumption that they share certain temperament-related elements. Socioemotional characteristics were measured using teacher ratings at ages 8 (N = 369; 53% males) and 14 (95% of the initial sample). Personality was assessed at age 42 (63% of the initial sample; 50% males) using a shortened version of the NEO Personality Inventory (NEO-PI); the Karolinska Scales of Personality (KSP); and the Adult Temperament Questionnaire (ATQ). Three models were tested using structural equation modeling. The results confirmed paths (a) from behavioral …
