Banach spaces which are r-uniformly noncreasy
2003
Abstract We consider a family of spaces wider than UNC spaces introduced by Prus, and we give some fixed point results in the setting of these spaces.
Weak solution for Neumann (p,q)-Laplacian problem on Riemannian manifold
2019
We prove the existence of a nontrivial solution for a nonlinear (p, q)-Laplacian problem with Neumann boundary condition, on a non compact Riemannian manifold. The idea is to reduce the problem in variational form, which means to consider the critical points of the corresponding Euler-Lagrange functional in an Orlicz-Sobolev space. (C) 2019 Elsevier Inc. HOLOMORPHIC SUPERPOSITION OPERATORS BETWEEN BANACH FUNCTION SPACES
2013
AbstractWe prove that for a large class of Banach function spaces continuity and holomorphy of superposition operators are equivalent and that bounded superposition operators are continuous. We also use techniques from infinite dimensional holomorphy to establish the boundedness of certain superposition operators. Finally, we apply our results to the study of superposition operators on weighted spaces of holomorphic functions and the$F(p, \alpha , \beta )$spaces of Zhao. Some independent properties on these spaces are also obtained.
Intrinsic characterizations of perturbation classes on some Banach spaces
2010
We investigate relationships between inessential operators and improjective operators acting between Banach spaces X and Y, emphasizing the case in which one of the spaces is a C(K) space. We show that they coincide in many cases, but they are different in the case X=Y =C(K 0), where K 0 is a compact space constructed by Koszmider. A C1-generic dichotomy for diffeomorphisms: Weak forms of hyperbolicity or infinitely many sinks or sources
2003
We show that, for every compact n-dimensional manifold, n > 1, there is a residual subset of Diff (M) of diffeomorphisms for which the homoclinic class of any periodic saddle of f verifies one of the following two possibilities: Either it is contained in the closure of an infinite set of sinks or sources (Newhouse phenomenon), or it presents some weak form of hyperbolicity called dominated splitting (this is a generalization of a bidimensional result of Mafine [Ma3]). In particular, we show that any Cl-robustly transitive diffeomorphism admits a dominated splitting.
On a theorem of Sobczyk
1991
In this paper the result of Sobczyk about complemented copies of c0 is extended to a class of Banach spaces X such that the unit ball of their dual endowed with the weak* topology has a certain topological property satisfied by every Corson-compact space. By means of a simple example it is shown that if Corson-compact is replaced by Rosenthal-compact, this extension does not hold. This example gives an easy proof of a result of Phillips and an easy solution to a question of Sobczyk about the existence of a Banach space E, c0 ⊂ E ⊂ l∞, such that E is not complemented in l∞ and c0 is not complemented in E. Assuming the continuum hypothesis, it is proved that there exists a Rosenthal-compact s…
Calabi-Yau conifold expansion
2013
We describe examples of computations of Picard–Fuchs operators for families of Calabi–Yau manifolds based on the expansion of a period near a conifold point. We find examples of operators without a point of maximal unipotent monodromy, thus answering a question posed by J. Rohde.
Dominated polynomials on infinite dimensional spaces
2008
The aim of this paper is to prove a stronger version of a conjecture on the existence of non-dominated scalar-valued m-homogeneous polynomials (m>=3) on arbitrary infinite dimensional Banach spaces.
Modular Calabi-Yau threefolds of level eight
2005
In the studies on the modularity conjecture for rigid Calabi-Yau threefolds several examples with the unique level 8 cusp form were constructed. According to the Tate Conjecture correspondences inducing isomorphisms on the middle cohomologies should exist between these varieties. In the paper we construct several examples of such correspondences. In the constructions elliptic fibrations play a crucial role. In fact we show that all but three examples are in some sense built upon two modular curves from the Beauville list.
