Neutrino energy reconstruction and the shape of the charged current quasielastic-like total cross section

2012

We show that because of the multinucleon mechanism effects, the algorithm used to reconstruct the neutrino energy is not adequate when dealing with quasielastic-like events, and a distortion of the total flux-unfolded cross-section shape is produced. This amounts to a redistribution of strength from high to low energies, which gives rise to a sizable excess (deficit) of low (high) energy neutrinos. This distortion of the shape leads to a good description of the MiniBooNE unfolded charged current quasielastic-like cross sections published by A. A. Aguilar-Arevalo et al. [(MiniBooNE Collaboration), Phys. Rev. D 81, 092005 (2010)]. However, these changes in the shape are artifacts of the unfol…

Theoretical uncertainties on quasielastic charged-current neutrino–nucleus cross sections

2006

We estimate the theoretical uncertainties of the model developed in Phys. Rev. C70 055503 for inclusive quasielastic charged-current neutrino-nucleus reactions at intermediate energies. Besides we quantify the deviations of the predictions of this many body framework from those obtained within a simple Fermi gas model. An special attention has been paid to the ratio \sigma(\mu)/\sigma(e) of interest for experiments on atmospheric neutrinos. We show that uncertainties affecting this ratio are likely smaller than 5%

$J/\psi$ reaction mechanisms and suppression in the nuclear medium

2012

Recent studies of the interaction of vector mesons with nuclei make possible and opportune the study of the interaction of the $J/\psi$ with nuclei and the investigation of the origin of the $J/\psi$ suppression in its propagation thorough a nuclear medium. We observe that the transition of $J/\psi N$ to $VN$ with $V$ being a light vector, $\rho, \omega,\phi$, together with the inelastic channels, $J/\psi N \to \bar D \Lambda_c$ and $J/\psi N \to \bar D \Sigma_c$ leads to a particular shape of the inelastic cross section. Analogously, we consider the mechanisms where the exchanged $D$ collides with a nucleon and gives $\pi \Lambda_c$ or $\pi \Sigma_c$. The cross section has a peak around $\…

Contour calculus for many-particle functions

2019

In non-equilibrium many-body perturbation theory, Langreth rules are an efficient way to extract real-time equations from contour ones. However, the standard rules are not applicable in cases that do not reduce to simple convolutions and multiplications. We introduce a procedure for extracting real-time equations from general multi-argument contour functions with an arbitrary number of arguments. This is done for both the standard Keldysh contour, as well as the extended contour with a vertical track that allows for general initial states. This amounts to the generalization of the standard Langreth rules to much more general situations. These rules involve multi-argument retarded functions …

Cutting rules and positivity in finite temperature many-body theory

2022

Abstract For a given diagrammatic approximation in many-body perturbation theory it is not guaranteed that positive observables, such as the density or the spectral function, retain their positivity. For zero-temperature systems we developed a method [2014 Phys. Rev. B 90 115134] based on so-called cutting rules for Feynman diagrams that enforces these properties diagrammatically, thus solving the problem of negative spectral densities observed for various vertex approximations. In this work we extend this method to systems at finite temperature by formulating the cutting rules in terms of retarded N-point functions, thereby simplifying earlier approaches and simultaneously solving the issu…

Study of linear response in Hubbard chains using Many-body Perturbation Theory

2010

In this work the basic formalism of non-equilibrium Green’s functions is presented and then applied to study a Ward identity in linear response theory, namely the frequency sum-rule. It can be proven that the frequency sum-rule is satisfied when the quantities involved are calculated using perturbation theory within a conserving approximation for the self-energy. To illustrate this equality along with other properties of the response function, a numerical application that solves the Kadanoff-Baym equations for systems of Hubbard chains was used. The results showed that the frequency sum-rule was satisfied to the same extent by all the conserving approximations used as by the exact diagonali…

Comparative analysis of muon-capture and 0νββ-decay matrix elements

2020

Average matrix elements of ordinary muon capture (OMC) to the intermediate nuclei of neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decays of current experimental interest are computed and compared with the corresponding energy and multipole decompositions of 0νββ-decay nuclear matrix elements (NMEs). The present OMC computations are performed using the Morita-Fujii formalism by extending the original formalism beyond the leading order. The 0νββ NMEs include the appropriate short-range correlations, nuclear form factors, and higher-order nucleonic weak currents. The nuclear wave functions are obtained in extended no-core single-particle model spaces using the spherical version of the proton-neutron quasip…

Muon-capture strength functions in intermediate nuclei of 0νββ decays

2019

Capture rates of ordinary muon capture (OMC) to the intermediate nuclei of neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decays of current experimental interest are computed. The corresponding OMC (capture-rate) strength functions have been analyzed in terms of multipole decompositions. The computed low-energy OMC-rate distribution to 76 As is compared with the available data of Zinatulina et al. [Phys. Rev. C 99, 024327 (2019)]. The present OMC computations are performed using the Morita-Fujii formalism by extending the original formalism beyond the leading order. The participant nuclear wave functions are obtained in extended no-core single-particle model spaces using the spherical version of proton-ne…
