Determining the implementation order of a general plan by using a multicriteria method

1998

We describe a real-life application of a new multicriteria method in the context of assisting the decision-making for a general plan in the municipality of Kirkkonummi in Uusimaa, Finland. At the time our group started working on the problem, a proposal for an overall plan had already been completed, but the order in which different regional parts of the plan should be implemented needed to be considered based on the environmental impact assessment (EIA) procedure. The EIA procedure generated a large amount of data about the different impacts of the alternatives. For this group decision making problem we developed the SMAA-3 decision support method which does not require any explicit prefer…

A knowledge-based decision support system in bioinformatics: An application to protein complex extraction

2013

Abstract Background We introduce a Knowledge-based Decision Support System (KDSS) in order to face the Protein Complex Extraction issue. Using a Knowledge Base (KB) coding the expertise about the proposed scenario, our KDSS is able to suggest both strategies and tools, according to the features of input dataset. Our system provides a navigable workflow for the current experiment and furthermore it offers support in the configuration and running of every processing component of that workflow. This last feature makes our system a crossover between classical DSS and Workflow Management Systems. Results We briefly present the KDSS' architecture and basic concepts used in the design of the knowl…

Towards the development of a Decision Support System (DSS) for building renovation: Domain Mapping Matrix (DMM) for sustainability renovation criteri…

2018

Future building renovation concerns more holistic perspectives related to the sustainability seen in a wider range of objectives/criteria facilitated by the renovation scenarios. In this regard, based on the studies upon existing sustainability evaluation and assessment tools carried out in previous research works, a characteristic diagram including a value map for evaluating a holistic sustainable retrofitting was developed. Further, in present paper, by reviewing the relevant literature, looking into recent European renovation research projects, the Danish SIGMA database, and investigation of a real case, a comprehensive list of renovation approaches (i.e. insulation technologies, windows…

The development of synthetic antitumour vaccines from mucin glycopeptide antigens.

2013

Based on important cell-biological and biochemical results concerning the structural difference between membrane glycoproteins of normal epithelial cells and epithelial tumour cells, tumour-associated glycopeptide antigens have been chemically synthesised and structurally confirmed. Glycopeptide structures of the tandem repeat sequence of mucin MUC1 of epithelial tumour cells constitute the most promising tumour-associated antigens. In order to generate a sufficient immunogenicity of these endogenous structures, usually tolerated by the immune system, these synthetic glycopeptide antigens were conjugated to immune stimulating components: in fully synthetic two-component vaccines either with…

Protein mapping by two-dimensional high performance liquid chromatography.

2000

Current developments in drug discovery in the pharmaceutical industry require highly efficient analytical systems for protein mapping providing high resolution, robustness, sensitivity, reproducibility and a high throughput of samples. The potential of two-dimensional (2D) HPLC as a complementary method to 2D-gel electrophoresis is investigated, especially in view of speed and repeatability. The method will be applied for proteins of a molecular mass <20 000 which are not well resolved in 2D-gel electrophoresis. The 2D-HPLC system described in this work consisted of anion- or cation-exchange chromatography in the first dimension and reversed-phase chromatography in the second dimension. We …

Perceivability of Map Information for Disaster Situations for People with Low Vision

2019

Digital maps have become increasingly popular in disaster situation to provide overview of information. However, these maps have also created barriers for many people, particularly people with visual impairments. Existing research on accessible maps such as tactile and acoustic maps focuses on providing solutions for blind persons to be able to perceive the information digital maps present. For people with low vision, who often rely on magnifier, good contrast and good navigation support, current digital map solutions present many challenges. In this paper we have studied two types of digital maps and their related surrounding text in the home page of disaster applications. The study focuse…

The Spectrum of Analytic Mappings of Bounded Type

2000

Abstract A Banach space E is said to be (symmetrically) regular if every continuous (symmetric) linear mapping from E to E ′ is weakly compact. For a complex Banach space E and a complex Banach algebra F , let H b ( E ,  F ) denote the algebra of holomorphic mappings from E to F which are bounded on bounded sets. We endow H b ( E ,  F ) with the usual Frechet topology. M ( H b ( E ,  F ),  F ) denotes the set of all non-null continuous homomorphisms from H b ( E ,  F ) to F . A subset of G EF on which the extension of Zalduendo is multiplicative is presented and it is shown that, in general, the sets G EF and M ( H b ( E ,  F ),  F ) do not coincide. We prove that if E is symmetrically regu…

Some integral type fixed point theorems in Non-Archimedean Menger PM-Spaces with common property (E.A) and application of functional equations in dyn…

2013

In this paper, we prove some integral type common fixed point theorems for weakly compatible mappings in Non-Archimedean Menger PM-spaces employing common property (E.A). Some examples are furnished which demonstrate the validity of our results. We extend our main result to four finite families of self-mappings employing the notion of pairwise commuting. Moreover, we give an application which supports the usability of our main theorem.
