AbstractIn humans as well as other animals, displays of body strength such as power postures or deep masculine voices are associated with prevalence in conflicts of interest and facilitated access to resources. Introduction: Little scholarly attention has been paid to the analysis of the history of intimate partner violence (IPV) against women with different male partners and how it could be related to levels of IPV with the current male partner. From this point of view, been a victim of IPV could increase the vulnerability of women and, therefore, exert a negative influence on the selection of partners over time, thus increasing the odds of potentially mating with abusive male partners. Se fijan cuatro estaciones correspondientes con las cuatro novelas cruciales en la biografía literaria de la autora. The paper presents an overview of the main perspectives on social construction and representation of homosexual masculinities using critical masculinities theory. The analysis considers contemporary cultural representations of gay masculinities as hybrid phenomena that participate to the constitution of hegemonic classed and racialized (normative) masculinities. (Homo)normative masculinities contribute deeply to the process of the subordination of the masculine Other (and of women).

mi trabajo analiza cómo en un conjunto de películas italianas se trata el tema del G8 de Génova del año 2001(donde hubo una gran manifestación en la que las fuerzas de orden italianas ejercieron una brutal violencia hacía los cuerpos de las/los manifestantes llegando a matar uno de ellos, Carlo Giuliani) y cómo estas películas representan los cuerpos de las mujeres y de los varones que estuvieron presentes o tuvieron algún papel en las manifestaciones de esos días, intentando detectar si hay formas diferentes de representación de los sujetos según el género de pertenencia. Las películas Diaz, Black Block, Bella Ciao y Carlo Giuliani Ragazzo constituyen el corpus textual analizado.

AbstractMainstream hip hop videos have long been known for their images of scantily clad women, extreme materialism, and misogynist and homophobic lyrics. In this article I focus on how rapper 50 Cent's masculinity is constructed and expressed through music, lyrics and images in his video ‘Candy Shop’ from 2005. This is a classically modelled hip hop video, replete with markers of hypermasculinity: fancy cars, ‘bling’, and lots of beautiful, sexually available women. Military honour and physical commitment to serve king and fatherland played a central role in the ideals of the army of Charles XII of Sweden. These ideals were formed within a culture in which the role of the warrior, dictated by a code of honour, was constantly challenged. My main empirical primary sources consist of the archivale records of the Swedish Diet, which included Placement Committee records from the Diet of 1723. An honourable man had the right to a livelihood and a respectable position in society.
