Positive solutions for nonlinear Robin problems

We consider a parametric Robin problem driven by the p-Laplacian with an indefinite potential and with a superlinear reaction term which does not satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. We look for positive solutions. We prove a bifurcation-type theorem describing the nonexistence, existence and multiplicity of positive solutions as the parameter varies. We also show the existence of a minimal positive solution $\tilde{u}_\lambda$ and establish the monotonicity and continuity of the map $\lambda\to \tilde{u}_\lambda$.

Nonlinear evolution equations for turbulent superfluids

In this paper a system of evolution equations for turbulent superfluid helium is written in the nonlinear regime, choosing as fundamental fields the density, the velocity, the heat flux, the non-equilibrium temperature and the average vortex line density per unit volume. Approximate equations are written, where second order terms in the non-equilibrium quantities are retained.

The two-fluid extended model of superfluid helium

In this paper we perform the first numerical comparison between the two main existing models of superfluid helium: the two-fluid model proposed by Landau and the one-fluid extended model proposed from the extended thermodynamics. The numerical experiments in this paper regard the profiles of the so-called normal and superfluid components in 2D counterflow turbulence.

Constant sign and nodal solutions for parametric anisotropic $(p, 2)$-equations

We consider an anisotropic ▫$(p, 2)$▫-equation, with a parametric and superlinear reaction term.Weshow that for all small values of the parameter the problem has at least five nontrivial smooth solutions, four with constant sign and the fifth nodal (sign-changing). Extensions of representable linear functionals to unitized quasi *-algebras

This paper starts from noting that, under certain conditions, *-representability and extensibility to the unitized *-algebra of a positive linear functional, defined on a *-algebra without unit, are equivalent. Here some conditions for the equivalence of the same concepts for a hermitian linear functional defined on a quasi *-algebra $(\A,\Ao)$ without unit are given. Vegetation Patterns in the Hyperbolic Klausmeier Model with Secondary Seed Dispersal

This work focuses on the dynamics of vegetation stripes in sloped semi-arid environments in the presence of secondary seed dispersal and inertial effects. To this aim, a hyperbolic generalization of the Klausmeier model that encloses the advective downhill transport of plant biomass is taken into account. Analytical investigations were performed to deduce the wave and Turing instability loci at which oscillatory and stationary vegetation patterns arise, respectively. A Perturbed Cauchy Viscoelastic Problem in an Exterior Domain

A Cauchy viscoelastic problem perturbed by an inverse-square potential, and posed in an exterior domain of RN, is considered under a Dirichlet boundary condition. Using nonlinear capacity estimates specifically adapted to the non-local nature of the problem, the potential function and the boundary condition, we establish sufficient conditions for the nonexistence of weak solutions.
