The present study reports on a 3-year clinical and radiologic follow-up investigation of dental implants placed 3 and 6 months after sinus augmentation in 14 patients. Augmentation was performed with a synthetic bone substitute material composed of nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite. Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical regeneration of extraction sockets using high-density polytetrafluoroethylene (dPTFE) membranes without the use of a graft material. Methods: A total of 276 extraction sockets were evaluated in 276 subjects (151 males and 125 females; mean age, 50.2 years; age range: 24 to 73 years). After extraction, flaps were elevated and a dPTFE membrane was placed over the extraction site. The flaps were repositioned and sutured into place. Fixed rehabilitation of a patient with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia using zygomatic implants

We found few references in the dental literature on implant rehabilitation of patients with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia and only 1 case on zygomatic fixations and maxillary prosthesis in a patient with hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia. Two zygomatic fixations were placed according to the sinus slot technique, together with 3 implants in the anterior maxillary region. After 6 months, an upper complete prosthesis was screwed onto the implants, and lower overdentures were placed over the remnant canines. After 18 months of follow-up the patient reported important improvement in oral function and self-esteem.
Application of ultrasound in bone surgery: Two case reports

The present study describes some of the applications of ultrasound in bone surgery, based on the presentation of two clinical cases. The Piezosurgery® ultrasound device was used (Tecnología Mectron Medical, Carasco, Italy). In one case the instrument was used to harvest a chin bone graft for placement in a bone defect at level 1.2, while in the other case a bony window osteotomy was made in the external wall of the maxillary sinus, in the context of a sinus membrane lift procedure.
