Failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) is a systematic procedure for analyzing a system (the entire system or just an assembly, subassembly or component) to identify potential failure modes, causes and effects of each failure on system operation. A somewhat different definition was formulated by Goddard Space Flight Center (USA) : FMEA is a procedure whereby every credible way of defeating each item from the lower decomposition level to the highest level is analyzed to determine effects on the system and classify each potential way of failure according to the severity of its effect.

The construction project being studied is a government investment related to the relocation of a biomedical institute delivering research-based knowledge and contingency support in the fields of animal health, fish health and food safety. The project covers a total of 63,000 square meters distributed over 10 buildings with a very high degree of complexity. From part to point cloud, the modelling of a 3D part

The present paper focuses on the development of the composite materials in the automotiv industry by making a comparative analysis between a 3D model of the part and a real part made by a composite material, measuring the part using the point cloud. Softening of Silica Filled Styrene-Butadiene Rubber under Uniaxial Cyclic Loading

Stress-strain behaviour of silica filled styrene-butadiene rubber showed strong hysteresis and cyclic softening, while these effects were almost negligible for the neat rubber. Significant Mullins effect occurs between the first and second loading cycles, whereupon samples reach their steady state after four repeated cycles. Influence of Biomass Combustion Products on Element Content and Thermal Stability of Latvian Sheep Breed Wool Filter Fibres

Sheep wool is natural, easy obtainable, renewable and biodegradable material with a perspective application as a sorbent in filters for purification of industrial emissions from various environmental pollutants. The element content and thermal stability of Latvian dark-headed sheep wool filter fibres was analysed and described before and after exposure to biomass combustion products. Based on the obtained results, it is concluded that the sheep wool filter fibres can sorb various gaseous combustion products, such as carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), however, the sorption processes of these gases are irreversible. Modeling bismuth insertion in 1D hybrid lead halide TMSO(Pb x Bi y )I3 pseudo-perovskites

Abstract The structures of the disordered 1D (pseudo-)perovskites of general TMSO(Pb x Bi y )I3 formulation [TMSO = (CH3)3SO+], obtained by doping the TMSOPbI3 species with Bi3+ ions, are investigated through the formulation of a statistical model of correlated disorder, which addresses the sequences of differently occupied BI6 face-sharing octahedra (B = Pb, Bi or vacant site) within ideally infinite [(BI3)−] n chains.
