Sensitivity Analysis in Nonrandomized Longitudinal Mediation Analysis

2021

Mediation analysis relies on an untestable assumption of the no omitted confounders, which posits that an omitted variable that confounds the relationships between the antecedent, mediator, and outcome variables cannot exist. One common model in alcohol addiction studies is a nonrandomized latent growth curve mediation model (LGCMM), where the antecedent variable is not randomized, the two covarying mediators are latent intercept and slope modeling longitudinal effect of the repeated measures mediator, and an outcome variable that measures alcohol use. An important gap in the literature is lack of sensitivity analysis techniques to assess the effect of the violation of the no omitted confou…

”Kaikki paha tulee Skandinaviasta” : Sukupuolittuneen ja seksualisoituneen väkivallan affektiivinen poetiikka ja politiikka Nordic noir -televisiosar…

2019

Esittämällä erityisesti homoseksuaaleihin kohdistuvia viharikoksia, sarja kommentoi ajankohtaisia keskusteluja seksuaaliv…

Violent Conflicts and the New Mediatization: The Impact of Social Media on the European Parliamentary Agenda Regarding the Syrian War

2018

As key institutions in Western democracies, parliaments have gained importance regarding foreign affairs issues in recent years. Their increasing role as moral tribunes and discussion forums on conflict prevention and resolution have led to the parliamentarization of international affairs. The examination of the parliamentary agenda and the actors who shape it constitutes a fundamental part of agenda-setting studies as applied to the media and political systems. Among these actors, mass media must be highlighted, taking into account the complex process of information gathering for members of Parliament, particularly in cases related to international violent conflicts. Moreover, in the speci…

Transmission delay in technology-mediated interaction at work

2015

This paper investigates transmission delay in technology-mediated interaction from a participant’s perspective. The approach chosen here contrasts with previous studies of delay: only what is seen, heard and done at one end (i.e., what is available on screen) is considered in the analysis. It is argued that participants themselves lack access to the other sides of their interactions as they unfold at remote locations, and they thus cannot observe and deal with delay from an outside perspective. Analyzing single cases of delay-ininteraction within the framework of conversation analysis, the focus is on dispersed conversation partners’ resources to detect a problem, and to make visible and re…

Are quality management practices enough to improve process innovation?

2015

The popularity of quality management as a system for continuous improvement has not been accompanied by deep theoretical understanding of its effects on process innovation. In this work, the resource-based view serves as the basis for the construction of a model designed to explain the effects of quality management practices (QMP) on process innovation performance and the mediating role of dynamic capabilities in this relationship. The empirical data were analysed using the structural equation modelling technique by examining 6 competing models that represent full, partial mediation and non-mediation relationships on a sample of 550 Spanish industrial companies. The findings indicate that t…

Mobile phones, identity and discursive intimacy

2005

This paper deals with the sociocultural effects of mobile phones in Philippine society. In particular it looks at how mobile phones have affected notions of identity and the rise of the sexual subject. It also deals with the political possibilities and implication of this new communicative technology in a society with previously poorly developed telephonic and other communicative technologies. Mobile phones allow absent subjects to exercise a daily presence in their communities of origin. This absent presence generates virtual subjects interacting primarily via the mobile phone.

Współczesna metropolia: tożsamość i formy bycia razem jej mieszkańców

2018

The following paper examines the Baumanian “forms of togethernes” in the space of the contemporary metropolis, both in the West (Europe, the USA), and the developing world (China). Zygmunt Bauman understands togetherness as a totality of interhuman actions, occurring in the city space. Paradoxically, the contemporary metropolis which often seems hostile towards traditional bourgeois urban life opens up new possibilities of mutual relations between contemporary citizens. The space in the contemporary city is neither fully artificial, nor natural, but it merges some features of both. Although its infrastructure is governed by effectiveness of molecular capitalism, it is not fully predicable i…

Music, vibrotactile mediation and bodily sensations in anorexia nervosa : "It's like I can really feel my heart beating"

2020

This article presents the theoretical, scientific, and methodological foundations for the design and implementation of an innovative technological and clinical platform that combined sound, music, and vibrotactile mediation used in a therapeutic setting by adolescents suffering from anorexia nervosa. In 2019, we carried out a pilot experiment with a group of 8 adolescent patients hospitalized in the Eating Disorders Unit of the Department of Adolescent and Young Adult Psychiatry of the Institut Mutualiste Montsouris in Paris. Within this clinical framework, we aimed to create conditions suitable for patients to reinvest in their “disaffected” bodily zones and internal experiences through re…
