Competitive NH···Ru/Fe Hydrogen Bonding in Ferrocenyl Ruthenocenyl Tosyl Hydrazone
2016
A strong nonclassical NH···Fe intramolecular hydrogen bond (IHB) is present in the literature-known diferrocenyl tosyl hydrazone (1). Here, we confirm by NMR and IR spectroscopy as well as by XRD methods that an analogous NH···Ru IHB is present in the heavier homologue diruthenocenyl tosyl hydrazone (2). The NH···Ru IHB in 2 is stronger than the NH···Fe IHB in 1 by 6 kJ mol–1, as determined by IR spectroscopy. Further, we probed the E/Z isomer directing abilities of NH···M IHBs in the synthesis of the mixed metallocenyl compound ferrocenyl ruthenocenyl tosyl hydrazone (3). 3 is obtained as a mixture of the Z and E isomers (3a,b) with NH···Ru and NH···Fe IHBs, respectively. At 111 °C, 3a is …
A New Synthetic Method and Solution Equilibria for the Chlorotitanate( IV ) Anions − Evidence for the Existence of a New Species: [Ti 2 Cl 11 ] 3−
2004
TiCl3 is oxidized by SOCl2 in the presence of the appropriate amount of [NEt3Bz]Cl or [PPN]Cl [Bz = benzyl; PPN = bis(triphenylphosphanyl)iminium] to afford the corresponding salts of [Ti2Cl9]−, [Ti2Cl10]2− or [TiCl6]2−. The results of cyclic voltammetric and solution IR studies in the Ti−Cl stretching region are interpreted in terms of a rapid chloride-redistribution equilibrium between [Ti2Cl10]2− on one side and a mixture of [Ti2Cl9]− and a previously unreported [Ti2Cl11]3− species on the other side. In the solid state, however, a compound with the [PPN]3[Ti2Cl11] stoichiometry exists as a mixture of [PPN]2[Ti2Cl10] and [PPN]2[TiCl6]. The PPN salt of [Ti2Cl9]− has been structurally chara…
Fe(II) spin crossover complexes of a derivative of 2,6-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine (1-bpp) functionalized with a carboxylic acid in the 3-pyridyl posit…
2019
Abstract The preparation of a new bis(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine (1-bpp) derivative functionalized with a carboxylic acid in the 3-pyridyl position, bpp3-COOH ligand is reported together with the structure and spin-crossover (SCO) properties of [FeII(bpp3-COOH)2](ClO4)2·0.5EtOH·0.5H2O (1). Magnetic properties of 1 indicate that LS is favored. Desolvation leads to a gradual and incomplete SCO. Solvated and desolvated compounds show LIESST effect.
Heteroleptic Iron(II) Spin-Crossover Complexes Based on a 2,6-Bis(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine-type Ligand Functionalized with a Carboxylic Acid
2019
Two new heteroleptic complexes [Fe- (1bppCOOH)(3bpp-bph)](ClO4)2·solv (1·solv, solv = various solvents; 1bppCOOH = 2,6-bis(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)- isonicotinic acid; 3bpp-bph = 2,6-bis(5-([1,1′-biphenyl]-4- yl)-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine) and [Fe(1bppCOOH)- (1bppCOOEt)](ClO4)2 ·0.5Me2CO (2·0.5Me2CO, 1bppCOOEt = ethyl 2,6-bis(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)isonicotinate) were designed and prepared. The heteroleptic compound 1· solv was obtained by the combination of stoichiometric amounts of Fe(ClO4)2, 1bppCOOH, and 3bpp-bph, and it was designed to fine-tune the spin crossover (SCO) properties with respect to the previously reported homoleptic compound [Fe(1bppCOOH)2](ClO4)2. Indeed, the introduction of a new subs…

2018
International audience; Four new salts of the iron(II) complex of the 2,6-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine ligand functionalized with a carboxylic acid group (bppCOOH) of formulas [Fe(bppCOOH)2](BF4)2 (1(BF4)2), [Fe(bppCOOH)2](CF3SO3)2·yMe2CO (1(CF3SO3)2·yMe2CO), [Fe(bppCOOH)2](AsF6)2·yMe2CO (1(AsF6)2·yMe2CO) and [Fe(bppCOOH)2](SbF6)2·yMe2CO (1(SbF6)2·yMe2CO) have been prepared and characterized together with a more complete structural and photomagnetic characterization of the previously reported [Fe(bppCOOH)2](ClO4)2 (1(ClO4)2). Furthermore, the iron(II) complex of the ethyl ester derivative of bppCOOH (bppCOOEt) has been prepared and characterized (compound [Fe(bppCOOEt)2](ClO4)2·yMe2CO, 2(ClO4)…
Coordination Chemistry of Cu2+ Complexes of Small N-Alkylated Tetra-azacyclophanes with SOD Activity
2018
A new tetraaza-pyridinophane macrocycle (L1) N-alkylated with two isopropyl and one methyl groups symmetrically disposed has been prepared and its behavior compared with those of the unsubstituted pyridinophane (L3) and the related compound with three methyl groups (L2). The protonation studies show that, first, a proton binds to the central methylated amine group of L1, while, second protonation leads to a reorganization of the protons that are at this stage attached to the lateral isopropylated amines. The X-ray structure of [HL1]+ agrees with the UV–vis and NMR studies as well as with the results of DFT calculations. The stability of the Cu2+ complexes decreases on increasing the bulkine…
Experimental and theoretical study of the [3+2] cycloaddition of carbonyl ylides with alkynes
2012
[EN] The [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction between carbonyl ylides generated from epoxides and alkynes (phenylacetylene, methyl propiolate, methyl but-2-ynoate and methyl 3-phenylpropiolate) to give substituted 2,5-dihydrofurans was investigated. The effect of indium(III) chloride on the outcome of the reaction was studied in the case of phenylacetylene and methyl propiolate. The thermal reaction between the carbonyl ylide coming from 2,2-dicyano-3-phenyloxirane and both methyl propiolate and methyl but-2-ynoate was theoretically investigated using DFT methods in order to explain the reactivity and regioselectivity observed.
A Close Look to the Oxaphosphetane Formation along the Wittig Reaction: A [2+2] Cycloaddition?
2020
The Wittig reaction between triphenylphosphine methylide and benzaldehyde has been studied both from conceptual and computational approaches. The supernucleophilic character of ylide accounts for the feasibility of the initial nucleophilic attack. The nature of bonding driving the formation of the first oxaphosphetane (OPA) intermediate in such a domino reaction is examined within a topological-based bonding evolution theory perspective. The sequence of the electronic flow associated to the changes in electron density supports a rationalization via two main electronic stages characterizing the single kinetic step: first, the C-C bond formation, which takes place via donation of electron den…
Borane reaction chemistry. Alkyne insertion reactions into boron-containing clusters. Products from the thermolysis of [6,9-(2-HC[triple bond]C-C5H4N…
2008
The stirring of [ortho-(HC[triple bond]C)-C(5)H(4)N] with [nido-B(10)H(14)] in benzene affords [6,9-{ortho-(HC[triple bond]C)-C(5)H(4)N}(2)-arachno-B(10)H(12)] 1 in 93% yield. In the solid state, 1 has an extended complex three-dimensional structure involving intramolecular dihydrogen bonding, which accounts for its low solubility. Thermolysis of 1 gives the known [1-(ortho-C(5)H(4)N)-1,2-closo-C(2)B(10)H(11)] 2 (13%), together with new [micro-5(N),6(C)-(NC(5)H(4)-ortho-CH(2))-nido-6-CB(9)H(10)] 3 (0.4%), [micro-7(C),8(N)-(NC(5)H(4)-ortho-CH(2))-nido-7-CB(10)H(11)] (0.4%) , 4 binuclear [endo-6'-(closo-1,2-C(2)B(10)H(10))-micro-(1(C),exo-6'(N))-(ortho-C(5)H(4)N)-micro-(exo-8'(C),exo-9'(N))-(…
Insights into the Synthesis and the Solution Behavior ofmeso-Aryloxy- and Alkoxy-Substituted Porphyrins
2015
meso-RO-appended (R = alkyl, aryl) porphyrins bearing one or two OR substituents at the tetrapyrrolic macrocycle were synthesized in good yields from 5,15-dibromo-10,20-diphenylporphyrins 2H(Br2DPP), Ni(Br2DPP) and Zn(Br2DPP) using an SNAr reaction. By varying the solvent, the base, the temperature, and the time of the reaction, the optimum conditions were established, and the selective introduction of one or two meso-RO substituents at the periphery of the macrocycle was achieved. Moreover, monofunctionalization of Ni(Br2DPP) according to an SNAr reaction was used as a key step for the synthesis of rarely explored unsymmetrical porphyrinyl alkyl ethers. 1H NMR studies of these ethers in CD…
