Straightforward synthesis of bioconjugatable azo dyes. Part 2: Black Hole Quencher-2 (BHQ-2) and BlackBerry Quencher 650 (BBQ-650) scaffolds

2014

Abstract A further extension of the efficient synthetic methodology described in Part 1, to the aromatic bis-diazo scaffold of Black Hole Quencher-2 dye is presented. Bioconjugatable derivatives bearing either azido, terminal alkyne, or maleimide reactive group were easily obtained as well as the free-phenol form of BlackBerry® Quencher 650 (BBQ-650®) initially developed by Berry & Associates, Inc. Company. The efficient conjugation ability of azido- and maleimide-quenchers was demonstrated through the facile preparation of the first water-soluble and formylated BHQ-2 dyes and a FRET-based probe suitable for the in vitro/in cellulo detection of a cancer-associated protease namely urokinase-…

Synthesis, characterization, and complexation of tetraarylborates with aromatic cations and their use in chemical sensors.

2005

Five aromatic borate anions, namely tetrakis(4-phenoxyphenyl)borate (1), tetrakis(biphenyl)borate (2), tetrakis(2-naphthyl)borate (3), tetrakis(4-phenylphenol)borate (4), and tetrakis(4-phenoxy)borate (5), have been prepared and tested as ion-recognition sites in chemical sensors for certain aromatic cations and metal ions. To gain further insight into the complexation of the cations, some complexes have been prepared and structurally characterized. The complexation behavior of 1 and 2 towards N-methylpyridinium (6), 1-ethyl-4-(methoxycarbonyl)pyridinium (7), tropylium (8), imidazolium (9), and 1-methylimidazolium (10) cations has been studied, and the stability constants of the complexes o…

Bis-cyclic Crown Ether Derived from Biphenyl. Different Behaviour in Complexing Hg(SCN)2 and Hg(CN)2

1998

Abstract A new bis-cyclic crown ether containing a biphenyl unit in its structure has been prepared. This compound shows unexpected behaviour in complexing Hg(CN)2. The new ligand transports this mercury salt across liquid membranes with great efficiency. Clear differences have been observed in the complexation of Hg(CN)2 and Hg(SCN)2. The X-ray structure of a 1:2 mercury complex with Hg(SCN)2 is also reported.

Group 13 complexes of dipyridylmethane, a forgotten ligand in coordination chemistry.

2015

The reactions of dipyridylmethane (dpma) with group 13 trichlorides were investigated in 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 molar ratios using NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. With 1 : 1 stoichiometry and Et2O as solvent, reactions employing AlCl3 or GaCl3 gave mixtures of products with the salt [(dpma)2MCl2](+)[MCl4](-) (M = Al, Ga) as the main species. The corresponding reactions in 1 : 2 molar ratio gave similar mixtures but with [(dpma)MCl2](+)[MCl4](-) as the primary product. Pure salts [(dpma)AlCl2](+)[Cl](-) and [(dpma)AlCl2](+)[AlCl4](-) could be obtained by performing the reactions in CH3CN. In the case of InCl3, a neutral monoadduct (dpma)InCl3 formed regardless of the stoichiometry emplo…

Triterpene saponins from the roots of Bupleurum spinosum Gouan

2020

Abstract Three previously undescribed triterpene saponins, and four known ones, were isolated from the EtOH/H2O extract of the roots of Bupleurum spinosum. Their structures were characterized using spectroscopic techniques including 1D and 2D NMR (1H, 13C, COSY, TOCSY, ROESY, HSQC, and HMBC) experiments and mass spectrometry as 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)]-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl-3β,16β,23,28-tetrahydroxyolean-12-ene, 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-[β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)]-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl-3β,16β,28-trihydroxy-23-oxoolean-12-ene, 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1→4)]-β-D-glucopyranosyl-3β,16β,2…

Differential reactivity of fluorinated homopropargylic amino esters vs gold(I) salts. The role of the nitrogen protecting group

2015

The reaction of several homopropargyl amino esters 4, bearing aromatic substituents and a benzyl group as nitrogen substituents, with gold(I) salts gave rise to fluorinated quinolines 6 in a tandem hydroarylation-isomerization process. On the other hand, homopropargyl amino esters 7 containing a carbamate group underwent the carbonyl addition over the triple bond in the presence of gold(I) salts, rendering fluorinated oxazines 8. The use of chiral sulfoxides allowed us to develop the asymmetric version of this protocol. This two processes complete the differential reactivity showed by these types of susbtrates, depending on the nature of the nitrogen protecting group. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V.…

Structural „memory effects” influencing decompositions of glucose alkoxide anions produced from monoterpene glycoside isomers in tandem mass spectrom…

1989

Isomeric glycoconjugates have been distinguished using desorption negative-ion chemical ionization/tandem mass spectrometry (DNCI–MS/MS). The structure of the leaving terpene influences the orientation of consecutive decompositions during collisionally activated decomposition (CAD) of [M–H]− ions which pass through a glucose alkoxide intermediate ion. This apparent „memory effect” can be rationalized by considering the production of anion-induced dipole complexes.

2-Aryl-substituted 4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-ones as novel active substances for the cardiovascular system

1991

4H-3,1-Benzoxazin-4-ones of the structural types 3 and 4 are accessible by cyclization reactions. The introduction of the phosphonate group was achieved by way of Wohl-Ziegler bromination and subsequent Michaelis-Arbuzow reaction with a trialkyl phosphite. Pharmacological investigations on isolated left atria, ileum specimens, and Langendorff hearts as well as in vivo circulatory studies on anesthetized rats revealed that the phosphonates 4 exert calcium antagonistic effects. Whereas 2-(arylvinyl)benzoxazinones gave rise to pronounced negative inotropic effects, compound 3e exhibited relaxing effects on smooth musculature in particular and markedly increased the coronary flow through Langen…

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis and Pharmacological Evaluation of 1-Methyl-5- [substituted-4(3H)-oxo-1,2,3-benzotriazin-3-yl]-1H-pyrazole-4-acetic Aci…

2010

Abstract Several new 1-methyl-5-[substituted-4-oxo-1,2,3-benzotriazin-3-yl]-1H-pyrazole-4-acetic acids and their ethyl ester derivatives were prepared. The compounds were tested for analgesic and antiinflammatory activities, acute toxicity, ulcerogenic effect, and as in vitro inhibitors of 3α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3α-HSD), since it is claimed that the inhibition of such an enzyme predicts in vivo antiinflammatory activity. Some compounds were more active than phenylbutazone in the phenylbenzoquinone and acetic acid peritonitis tests, and equiactive to the same drug in the carrageenin paw edema test. All the compounds inhibited the 3α-HSD, but no correlation was observed with the paw…
