2018

The sirventes of the troubadour era has been broadly studied, but there are not overall explanations concerning the evolution of the sirventes genre in the Catalan-speaking lands of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. This paper propounds a catalogue of sirventesos concerning its historical development, the troubadour models, rhetorical and grammatical treatises, and genre assignment in rubrics. Our catalogue contains thirty-one Catalan sirventesos , including twenty-eight extant items and three items lost. In some cases the literary motifs of the sirventes cross boundaries in a process of poetic hybridization with other moral genres which borrow out themes, images and rhetorical strate…

1999

This paper analyzes a copy of a document dated at the Monastery of Poblet, 20th August, 1380. It states that the King Pedro el Ceremonioso was in the process of establishing a library in it. The absence of the original document as well as the existence of a single copy and several textual irregularities required a diplomatic analysis of the text, so that it could be adequately used as a historical source.[fr] Le présent article analyse la copie du document daté au Monastère de Poblet le 20 août 1380, selon lequel le roi Pedro el Ceremonioso avrait fondé une bibliothèque à ce monastère.

2018

This contribution is a further partial anticipation of the critical edition of the mythological faules of Joan Roís de Corella (15th century) for Barcino (ENC), after that appeared in Magnificat, vol.3, 2016. It focuses on one of the author's most mature and significant faules, as well as one of the most prestigious testimonies both of the presence of the myth of Ero and Leandro in the Iberian 15th century, and of the peninsular reception of the Heroides. The paper consists of two parts. In the first part, Introduction, the current situation of the studies related to the Istòria is first summarized. Next, the analysis of the literary memory that supports the discursive construction of the f…

Beatrice Rosso Spatafora e i Luna (XV secolo)

2011

Beatrice Rosso Spatafora, countess of Sclafani and Lady of Caltavuturo, first married Carlo Luna, earl of Caltabellotta. After obtaining the annulment of this marriage on the grounds…

Tra lusso e peccato nella Sicilia medievale

2022
