Metagenomics Reveals Planktonic Bacterial Community Shifts across a Natural CO2 Gradient in the Mediterranean Sea

ABSTRACT Bacterial communities at a CO 2 vent (pH 6.7) were compared with those at control (pH 8.0) and transition sites (pH 7.6) using 16S rRNA metagenomics. Firmicutes and unclassified bacteria dominated across all sites, Proteobacteria , especially Gammaproteobacteria , declined, and Epsilonproteobacteria increased in the vent with an increase in Bacteroidetes at both the vent and transition sites.

AbstractDaily solar radiation Rs at ground level is a necessary input variable required for the evaluation of evapotranspiration and crop growth, development, and yield-simulation models. Nevertheless, it is measured in few weather stations and at many locations it is not observed; also, available Rs temporal series are generally no longer than a few years. The Euro-Mediterranean Partnership and Financial Integration: a first assessment for selected countries

In this paper, we try to provide a first assessment on the extent of financial integration and convergence between selected European and Southern Mediterranean countries involved in the Barcelona process. In particular, we implement a simple test of capital mobility based on the verification of the international real interest parity hypothesis between domestic rates against the real rate of Germany, used as the European reference country, and against the real rate of the US. We repeat the test before and after the introduction of the Euro, and then measure the speed of real interest rate convergence.

Several authors have investigated the role of some foods as potential triggers. This narrative review aims to analyze the correlation between diet and FMF clinical outcomes. The objective of this work was to compare and estimate the ecological features of 192 macromycetes, including nine hypogeous and three semi-hypogeous fungi, collected in Sicilian areas reforested with Eucalyptus. The number of mycorrhizal fungi turned out to be only 22 % of the taxa recorded so far from other areas, and this underlines the difficulties of eucalyptus trees in adapting to the pedological and climatic conditions of Sicily.
