Tungsten(VI)-gluconic acid complexes: Polarimetric and13C-N.m.r. Studies in an excess of tungsten(VI)
1986
A polarimetric study of the tungsten (VI)-gluconic acid system in an excess of metal reveals the formation of four stable complexes: two monomers with 1 : 2 and 2: 1 stoichiometries and two dimers of 2:2 composition. The pH ranges of these species, the amount of acid equivalents their formation requires, and their conditional stability constants have also been calculated.
Synthesis, characterization, X-ray crystallography, and antimicrobial activities of Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes with a salicylaldehyde-based thiosemi…
2014
A new salicylaldehyde-based ‘ONS’ tridentate salicylaldehyde-N(4)-diethylthiosemicarbazone (H2SANEt2) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, mass, IR, and 1H NMR spectral parameters. The coordination mode of the synthesized ligand is reported by solid state isolation and physico-chemical identification of Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes, [Ni(SANEt2)]2 (1) and [Cu(SANEt2)]2 (2). Both complexes are neutral and oxygen-bridged dinuclear species. The ligand is bideprotonated ‘ONS’ tridentate in both complexes. IR spectral data indicate that coordination of each metal of the two complexes occurs through phenolic oxygen, azomethine nitrogen, and thiolato sulfur. X-ray crystallog…
Coordination properties of imino(2-pyridyl)methylpalladium(II) compounds. Preparation and thermal rearrangement of binuclear adducts with palladium(I…
1988
Abstract The imino(2-pyridyl)methylpalladium(II) compound py-2-C(R′)NR (R = C 6 H 4 OMe-p, R′ = trans-PdCl(PPh 3 ) 2 ) reacts with [PdCl 2 (CH 2 CHPh)] 2 , [PdCl 2 - (NCMe) 2 ], and K[PtCl 3 (CH 2 CH 2 )] to give binuclear complexes [MCl 2 {py-2- C(R′)NR}] (M = Pd, Pt), in which the α-diimino group acts as a chelating bidentate ligand. In hot 1,2-dichloroethane, these complexes undergo a PPh 3 and chloride ligand exchange at rates which depend markedly on the metal M (Pd ⪢ Pt), to yield the new derivatives [MCl(PPh 3 ){py-2-C(cis-PdCl 2 (PPh 3 ))NR}]. The ligand exchange is followed by a much slower decomposition to [MCl 2 (PPh 3 ) 2 ]. Labile intermediates of the same type, [MCl(PPh …
Synthesis of a Linear Assembly Consisting of a Central Ru(Phen)32+ Derivative and Two Peripheral Porphyrins
2002
A ruthenium(II) precursor complex containing a bis-phenanthroline ligand, leading to a controlled helical structure around the metal centre, and a third phenanthroline-type ligand has been prepared. The spatial arrangement of the system is such that two chemical groups are disposed trans to one another on an axis running through the Ru centre. By appropriate functional group transformation, these two groups can be attached to monosubstituted zinc(II) porphyrins (PZn) to afford a linear array consisting of a central ruthenium(II) complex and two peripheral PZn motifs. Conformations and coordination schemes of carboxylate and carbamoyl derivatives of the tetraazamacrocycles cyclen and cyclam, and the relation to the…
1998
Abstract This paper discusses and rationalizes the metal coordination pattern of 12- and 14-membered tetraazamacrocyclic carboxylate and carbamoyl ligands based on the cyclen and cyclam framework in light of their acido–basic properties. Structural and protonation data are reviewed in order to illustrate the influence of the free ligand's protonation state and of the pH conditions during the complexation reaction on the final coordination mode of the metallic cations.
Triplet of cysteines – Coordinational riddle?
2020
Polythiol binding of metal ions plays crucial role in the proper functioning of cysteine-rich proteins that are responsible for metal homeostasis and defending processes against metal toxicity (including heavy metals detoxification). The coordination properties of cysteine residues involved in specific sequencional patterns in proteins (like those present in e.g. metallothioneins) are interesting not only from a chemical point of view but may also lead to a better understanding of the purpose and allocation of metal ions in various biomolecules. In this study, the interaction of Zn2+, Cd2+ and Ni2+ ions with four peptides containing cysteine triplet motif were studied by potentiometric and …
Bimetallic Complexes from Amphoteric Group 13/15 Ligands: Syntheses and X-ray Crystal Structures
2002
Bimetallic, pentel-bridged complexes of the type [(dmap)Me 2 -M-E(SiMe 3 ) 2 -M'(CO) n ] (M = Al, Ga; E=P, As, Sb; M'=Cr, Fe, Ni; DMAP= 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine) are formed by reactions of DMAP-coordinated monomeric Group 13/15 compounds [(dmap)Me 2 M-E(SiMe 3 ) 2 ] with the transition metal complexes [(Me 3 N)Cr-(CO) 5 ], [Fe 3 (CO) 1 2 ], and [Ni(CO) 4 ]. For the first time, this reaction offers a general pathway to compounds containing a Group 13 metal and a transition metal bridged by a pentel atom. Complexes prepared in this way were characterized by IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis. Their electronic and structural properties are disc…
Aerobic epoxidation of olefins catalysed by square-planar cobalt(III) complexes of bis-N,N′-disubstituted oxamides and related ligands
1997
The new square-planar nickel(II) complexes of o-phenylenebis(N′-methyloxamidate) and related ligands catalyse the aerobic epoxidation of olefins with co-oxidation of pivalaldehyde; the modulation of catalytic activity by substituents along this series of metal complexes points out the role of high-valent nicke(IV)-oxo species as the putative intermediate in these oxygen atom transfer reactions.
Furoquinolines and dihydrooxazole alkaloids with cytotoxic activity from the stem bark of Araliopsis soyauxii.
2018
Abstract Two new furoquinoline alkaloids, maculine B (1) and kokusaginine B (2) and one new dihydrooxazole alkaloid, veprisazole (3), along with four known compounds namely, N13-methyl-3-methoxyrutaecarpine (4), flindersiamine (5), skimmianine (6) and tilianin (7) were isolated from the methanol extract of the stem bark of Araliopsis soyauxii Engl. by various chromatographic methods. Their structures were determined using spectrometry and spectroscopic techniques including NMR and MS. The cytotoxicity of the new compounds compared to that of doxorubicin, the reference anticancer compound, was determined on a panel of nine cancer cell lines including sensitive and drug resistant phenotypes. …
Rotenoids, Flavonoids, and Chalcones from the Root Bark of Millettia usaramensis.
2015
Five new compounds, 4-O-geranylisoliquiritigenin (1), 12-dihydrousararotenoid B (2), 12-dihydrousararotenoid C (3), 4'-O-geranyl-7-hydroxyflavanone (4), and 4'-O-geranyl-7-hydroxydihydroflavanol (5), along with 12 known natural products (6-17) were isolated from the CH2Cl2/MeOH (1:1) extract of the root bark of Millettia usaramensis ssp. usaramensis by chromatographic separation. The purified metabolites were identified by NMR spectroscopic and mass spectrometric analyses, whereas their absolute configurations were established on the basis of chiroptical data and in some cases also by X-ray crystallography. The crude extract was moderately active (IC50 = 11.63 μg/mL) against the ER-negative…
