The Fluorescence Explorer (FLEX) mission was selected in 2015, by the European Space Agency (ESA), as an Earth Explorer mission, with a launch planned for 2024. The key scientific objective of the mission is the quantitative global mapping of actual photosynthetic activity of terrestrial ecosystems, as a function of variable vegetation health status and environmental stress conditions. The measurements will have a spatial resolution of 300 m, adequate to resolve land surface processes associated to vegetation dynamics at a global scale. According the vegetative reproduction of this species, requirements for visual quality are also needed for potato seed tubers. The effects of different polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) including toxic coplanar non-ortho (PCB77) and non-planar mono-ortho (PCB118) and di-ortho (PCB153) congeners on the extent of DNA damage as well as on the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) were investigated in the marine sponge Suberites domuncula Olivi (Porifera; Demospongiae). Phenolic compounds are secondary metabolites involved in different protection mechanisms as, for example, against grazers, epiphytes and UV radiation. Seasonal variations of phenolic content in C. amentacea were analysed and laboratory experiments, in which C. amentacea was exposed to an increase of temperature (258C and 308C), were performed. Total phenolic content (TPC) was determined colorimetrically with the Folin–Ciocalteu reagent. In C. amentacea, a seasonal pattern in TPC was observed, with a maximum value in winter-spring. C. amentacea responded significantly to the temperature treatments with a consistent decrease in TPC after 48 h.

As an essential nutrient, copper (Cu) scarcity causes a decrease in agricultural production. Cu deficiency responses include the induction of several microRNAs, known as Cu-miRNAs, which are responsible for degrading mRNAs from abundant and dispensable cuproproteins to economize copper when scarce.
