Understanding Mentoring Within an Ecosystem of Practices

The aim of this article is to introduce an ecosystemic approach to mentoring, inspired by the theory of ecologies of practices (Kemmis, Edwards-Groves, Wilkinson, & Hardy, 2012). It is suggested that relationships between practices and their environment resemble in many ways the relationships between natural organisms and ecosystems. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää, miten yliopistossa integraatiokoulutuksen käyneet luokanopettajat ovat kokeneet induktiovaiheen sekä ensimmäisen vuotensa työelämässä. Tutkimuksen tarkastelun kohteena oli lisäksi opettajien saama tuki induktiovaiheessa sekä opettajankoulutuksen kehittäminen. Aihe on tärkeä, jotta induktiovaihetta ja koulutusta voitaisiin kehittää. This study investigated participants’ conceptions of the ideal mentor and mentee in the Finnish model of peer-group mentoring (PGM). Existing mentoring research emphasises dyadic practices, yet there is a lack of investigation of participants’ roles in group mentoring.
