B-meson to light-meson transition form factors

2007

We report a comprehensive set of results for B-meson heavy-to-light transition form factors calculated using a truncation of, and expression for, the transition amplitudes in which all elements are motivated by the study of Dyson-Schwinger equations in QCD. In this relativistic approach, which realizes confinement and dynamical chiral symmetry breaking, all physical values of momentum transfer in the transition form factors are simultaneously accessible. Our results can be useful in the analysis and correlation of the large body of data being accumulated at extant facilities, and thereby in probing the standard model and beyond.

Nature of the axial-vector mesons from their N-c behavior within the chiral unitary approach

2008

By describing within the chiral unitary approach the g-wave interaction of the vector meson nonet with the octet of pseudoscalar Goldstone bosons, we find that the main component of the axial-vector mesons -b(1)(1235), h(1)(1170), h(1)(1380), a(1)(1260), f(1)(1285) and the two states associated to the K-1(1270)- does not follow the QCD dependence on the number of colors for ordinary q (q) over bar mesons.

Neutral pion and η meson production in proton–proton collisions at s=0.9 TeV and s=7 TeV

2012

The first measurements of the invariant differential cross sections of inclusive pi(0) and eta meson production at mid-rapidity in proton-proton collisions root s = 0.9 TeV and root s = 7 TeV are reported. The pi(0) measurement covers the ranges 0.4 < p(T) < 7 GeV/c and 0.3 < p(T) < 25 GeV/c for these two energies, respectively. The production of eta mesons was measured at root s = 7 TeV in the range 0.4 < p(T) < 15 GeV/c. Next-to-Leading Order perturbative QCD calculations, which are consistent with the pi(0) spectrum at root s = 0.9 TeV, overestimate those of pi(0) and eta mesons at root s = 7 TeV, but agree with the measured eta/pi(0) ratio at root s = 7 TeV. Forward J / ψ and D meson nuclear suppression at the LHC

2017

Abstract Using the color glass condensate formalism, we study the nuclear modification of forward J/ψ and D meson production in high energy proton-nucleus collisions at the LHC. We show that relying on the optical Glauber model to obtain the dipole cross section of the nucleus from the one of the proton fitted to HERA DIS data leads to a smaller nuclear suppression than in the first study of these processes in this formalism and a better agreement with experimental data.

The large $$N_{c}$$ limit of QCD on the lattice

2021

We review recent progress in the study of the large $N_c$ limit of gauge theories from lattice simulations. The focus is not only the planar limit but also the size of ${\mathcal O}(N_c^{-1})$ corrections for values of $N_c\gtrsim 3$. Some concrete examples of the topics we include are tests of large-$N_c$ factorization, the topological susceptibility, the glueball, meson and baryon spectra, the chiral dependence of masses and decay constants, and weak matrix elements related to the $\Delta I=1/2$ rule in kaon decays.

Search for γγ→ηb in e+e− collisions at LEP 2

2002

A search for the pseudoscalar meson eta_b is performed in two-photon interactions at LEP~2 with an integrated luminosity of 699 pb^-1 collected at e+e- centre-of-mass energies from 181 GeV to 209 GeV. One candidate event is found in the six-charged-particle final state and none in the four-charged-particle final state, in agreement with the total expected background of about one event. Upper limits of Gamma_gammagamma(eta_b) * BR(eta_b -> 4 charged particles) 6 charged particles) < 132 eV are obtained at 95% confidence level, which correspond to 95% confidence level upper limits of 9.0% and 25% on these branching ratios.

Quenched and first unquenched lattice HQET determination of the B-s-meson width difference

2001

We present recent results for the prediction of the Bs lifetime difference from lattice Heavy Quark Effective Theory simulations. In order to get a next-to-leading order result we have calculated the matching between QCD and HQET and the two-loop anomalous dimensions in the HQET for all the \Delta B=2 operators, in particular for the operators which enter the width difference. We present results from quenched and, for the first time, from unquenched simulations. We obtain for the Bs lifetime difference, (\Delta\Gamma_Bs/\Gamma_Bs)^{(que.)}=(5.1+/- 1.9+/- 1.7)10^(-2) and (\Delta\Gamma_Bs/\Gamma_Bs)^{(unq.)}=(4.3+/- 2.0+/- 1.9)10^(-2) from the quenched and unquenched simulations respectively

Combined relativistic and static analysis for all DB = 2 operators

2001

We analyse matrix elements of Delta B=2 operators by combining QCD results with the ones obtained in the static limit of HQET. The matching of all the QCD operators to HQET is made at NLO order. To do that we have to include the anomalous dimension matrix up to two loops, both in QCD and HQET, and the one loop matching for all the Delta B=2 operators. The matrix elements of these operators are relevant for the prediction of the B-\bar B mixing, B_s meson width difference and supersymmetric effects in Delta B=2 transitions.

Gluonic effects in vector meson photoproduction at large momentum transfers

2001

Non-perturbative QCD mechanisms are of fundamental importance in strong interaction physics. In particular, the flavor singlet axial anomaly leads to a gluonic pole mechanism which has been shown to explain the $\eta^{\prime}$ mass, violations of the OZI rule and more recently the proton spin. We show here that the interaction derived from the gluonic pole exchange explains the high momentum transfer behavior of the photoproduction cross sections of vector mesons at JLab energies.

The rho NN coupling with direct coupling and loops

2002

Starting from a gauge formalism of $\rho$ mesons, pions and baryons we evaluate the $\rho$ coupling to the nucleon, including the direct coupling provided by the Lagrangians, plus contributions from loops with the virtual pion cloud. We find a contribution to the magnetic $\rho$ coupling to the nucleon from pionic loops of the same size as the direct coupling, which is, however, still small compared to the empirical values. This finding goes in line with chiral formulations of the strong interaction of mesons at low energies where, unlike the scalar mesons which are mostly built of a pion (kaon) cloud, the $\rho$ meson stands as a genuine QCD state with intrinsic properties not tied to thos…
