Semileptonic decays of charmed mesons in the effective action of QCD
2001
Within the framework of phenomenological Lagrangians we construct the effective action of QCD relevant for the study of semileptonic decays of charmed mesons. Hence we evaluate the form factors of D -> P(0^-) l^+ nu_l at leading order in the 1/N_C expansion and, by demanding their QCD-ruled asymptotic behaviour, we constrain the couplings of the Lagrangian. The features of the model-independent parameterization of form factors provided and their relevance for the analysis of experimental data are pointed out.
Dynamically generated resonances
2010
We study the radiative decay properties of the charmonium-like X, Y and Z mesons generated dynamically from vector meson-vector meson interaction in the framework of a unitarized hiddengauge formalism. In the present work we calculate the one- and two-photon decay widths of the hidden-charm Y (3940), Z(3930) (or X(3915)) and X(4160) mesons in the framework of the vector meson dominance formalism. We obtain good agreement with experiment in case of the two photon width of the X(3915) which we associate with the 2 + resonance that we find at 3922 MeV.
TheA 1-and the ϕ-meson in QCD
1993
Recently we used a method of stable analytic extrapolation to test whether strictly local duality between the asymptotic and the resonance region, which is believed to be valid in QCD, appears already at the present stage of QCD calculations. Probing the QCD ϱ-amplitude, we found a prominent bump structure in the resonance region, i.e. a rather direct evidence for the validity of local duality. In the present paper we confirm and extend this result by giving two further applications, theA1-meson and the ϕ-meson. While we do not meet theA1, as was to be expected since other sum rules can not separate it from the continuum, too, the extrapolation of the ϕ-amplitude leads to an enormous bump. …
K*(892)0 and ϕ(1020) meson production at high transverse momentum in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
2017
The yields of the K*(892)(0) and phi(1020) resonances are measured in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV through their hadronic decays using the ALICE detector. The measurements are performed in multiple centrality intervals at mid-rapidity (vertical bar y vertical bar <0.5) in the transverse-momentum ranges 0.3 <p(T) <5 GeV/c for the K*(892)(0) and 0.5 <p(T) <5 GeV/c for the phi(1020). The yields of K*(892)(0) are suppressed in central Pb-Pb collisions with respect to pp and peripheral Pb-Pb collisions (perhaps due to rescattering of its decay products in the hadronic medium), while the longer-lived phi(1020) meson is not suppressed. These particles are also used as probes to study …
Elliptic Flow of Electrons from Beauty-Hadron Decays in Pb-Pb Collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV
2021
The elliptic flow of electrons from beauty hadron decays at midrapidity ($|y|$ $<$ 0.8) is measured in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The azimuthal distribution of the particles produced in the collisions can be parameterized with a Fourier expansion, in which the second harmonic coefficient represents the elliptic flow, $v_{\rm 2}$. The $v_{\rm 2}$ coefficient is measured for the first time in transverse momentum ($p_{\rm{T}}$) range 1.3-6 GeV/$c$ in the centrality class 30-50%. The measurement of electrons from beauty-hadron decays exploits their larger mean proper decay length $c\tau \approx$ 500 $\mu$m compared to that of charm had…
Prediction of positive parity Bs mesons and search for the X(5568)
2016
We use a combination of quark-antiquark and $B^{(*)}K$ interpolating fields to predict the mass of two QCD bound states below the $B^*K$ threshold in the quantum channels $J^P=0^+$ and $1^+$. The mesons correspond to the b-quark cousins of the $D_{s0}^*(2317)$ and $D_{s1}(2460)$ and have not yet been observed in experiment, even though they are expected to be found by LHCb. In addition to these predictions, we obtain excellent agreement of the remaining p-wave energy levels with the known $B_{s1}(5830)$ and $B_{s2}^*(5840)$ mesons. The results from our first principles calculation are compared to previous model-based estimates. More recently the D0 collaboration claimed the existence of an …
Measurements of theB→Xsγbranching fraction and photon spectrum from a sum of exclusive final states
2005
Using 88.9 million BB events collected by the BaBar detector at the Y(4S), we measure the branching fraction for the radiative penguin process B -> X_s gamma from the sum of 38 exclusive final states. The inclusive branching fraction above a minimum photon energy E_gamma > 1.9 GeV is BF (b -> s gamma) = (3.27 +/- 0.18 (stat.) +0.55/-0.40 (syst.) +0.04/-0.09 (theory)) 10^-4. We also measure the isospin asymmetry between B^- -> X_s ubar gamma and B^0bar -> X_s dbar gamma to be Delta_0- = -0.006 +/- 0.058 (stat.) +/- 0.009 (syst.) +/- 0.024 (B^0bar / B^-). The photon energy spectrum is measured in the B rest frame, from which moments are derived for different values of the minimum photon energ…
Study ofB→πlνandB→ρlνdecays and determination of|Vub|
2011
We present an analysis of exclusive charmless semileptonic B-meson decays based on 377×106 BB pairs recorded with the BABAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. We select four event samples corresponding to the decay modes B0→π-l+ν, B+→π0l+ν, B0→ρ-l+ν, and B+→ρ0l+ν and find the measured branching fractions to be consistent with isospin symmetry. Assuming isospin symmetry, we combine the two B→πlν samples, and similarly the two B→ρlν samples, and measure the branching fractions B(B0→π-l+ν)=(1.41±0.05±0.07)×10-4 and B(B0→ρ-l+ν)=(1.75±0.15±0.27)×10-4, where the errors are statistical and systematic. We compare the measured distribution in q2, the momentum transfer squared, with predictions for the…
Exclusive radiative Higgs decays as probes of light-quark Yukawa couplings
2015
We present a detailed analysis of the rare exclusive Higgs-boson decays into a single vector meson and a photon and investigate the possibility of using these processes to probe the light-quark Yukawa couplings. We work with an effective Lagrangian with modified Higgs couplings to account for possible new-physics effects in a model-independent way. The h->V\gamma{} decay rate is governed by the destructive interference of two amplitudes, one of which involves the Higgs coupling to the quark anti-quark pair inside the vector meson. We derive this amplitude at next-to-leading order in \alpha_s using QCD factorization, including the resummation of large logarithmic corrections and accounting f…
The mesonic spectrum of bosonized QCD2 in the chiral limit
1991
Abstract By studying an equivalent non-abelian bosonic theory we resolve the mesonic spectrum of quantum chromodynamics in one space-one time dimension for massless quarks. The emphasis is placed in the non-chiral sector described be colored meson fields. Two and four point functions of these fields are explicitly calculated in the large N limit. Some of the relevant issues: chiral symmetry realization, phases, anomaly saturation, etc…, are revisited.
