Light- and strange-quark mass dependence of the ρ(770) meson revisited

2020

Recent lattice data on $\pi\pi$-scattering phase shifts in the vector-isovector channel, pseudoscalar meson masses and decay constants for strange-quark masses smaller or equal to the physical value allow us to study the strangeness dependence of these observables for the first time. We perform a global analysis on two kind of lattice trajectories depending on whether the sum of quark masses or the strange-quark mass is kept fixed to the physical point. The quark mass dependence of these observables is extracted from unitarized coupled-channel one-loop Chiral Perturbation Theory. This analysis guides new predictions on the $\rho(770)$ meson properties over trajectories where the strange-qua…

String breaking by light and strange quarks in QCD

2019

The energy spectrum of a system containing a static quark anti-quark pair is computed for a wide range of source separations using lattice QCD with $N_\mathrm{f}=2+1$ dynamical flavours. By employing a variational method with a basis including operators resembling both the gluon string and systems of two separated static mesons, the first three energy levels are determined up to and beyond the distance where it is energetically favourable for the vacuum to screen the static sources through light- or strange-quark pair creation, enabling both these screening phenomena to be observed. The separation dependence of the energy spectrum is reliably parameterised over this saturation region with a…

D mesic nuclei

2010

The energies and widths of several D-0 meson bound states for different nuclei are obtained using a D-meson selfenergy in the nuclear medium, which is evaluated in a selfconsistent manner using techniques of unitarized coupled-channel theory. The kernel of the meson-baryon interaction is based on a model that treats heavy pseudoscalar and heavy vector mesons on equal footing, as required by heavy quark symmetry. We find D-0 bound states in all studied nuclei, from C-12 up to Pb-208. The inclusion of vector mesons is the keystone for obtaining an attractive D-nucleus interaction that leads to the existence of D-0-nucleus bound states, as compared to previous studies based on SU(4) flavor sym…

Electromagnetic form factors of spin 1/2 doubly charmed baryons

2018

We study the electromagnetic form factors of the doubly charmed baryons, using covariant chiral perturbation theory within the extended on-mass-shell (EOMS) scheme. Vector-meson contributions are also taken into account. We present results for the baryon magnetic moments, charge and magnetic radii. While some of the chiral Lagrangian parameters could be set to values determined in previous works, the available lattice results for $\Xi_{cc}^+$ and $\Omega_{cc}^+$ only allow for robust constraints on the low-energy constant (LEC) combination, $c_{89}(=-\frac{1}{3}c_8+4c_9)$. The couplings of the doubly charmed baryons to the vector mesons have been estimated assuming the Okubo--Zweig--Iizuka …

Effect of relativistic kinematics on the stability of multiquarks

2021

We discuss whether the bound nature of multiquark states in quark models could benefit from relativistic effects on the kinetic energy operator. For mesons and baryons, relativistic corrections to the kinetic energy lead to lower energies, and thus call for a retuning of the parameters of the model. For multiquark states, as well as their respective thresholds, a comparison is made of the results obtained with non-relativistic and relativistic kinetic energy. It is found that the binding energy is lower in the relativistic case. In particular, $QQ\bar q\bar q$ tetraquarks with double heavy flavor become stable for a larger ratio of the heavy to light quark masses; and the all-heavy tetraqua…

Quark Structure of the X (4500), X (4700) and χc(4P,5P) States

2021

We study some of the main properties (masses and open-flavor strong decay widths) of 4P and 5P charmonia. While there are two candidates for the χc0(4P,5P) states, the X(4500) and X(4700), the properties of the other members of the χc(4P,5P) multiplets are still completely unknown. With this in mind, we start to explore the charmonium interpretation for these mesons. Our second goal is to investigate if the apparent mismatch between the Quark Model (QM) predictions for χc0(4P,5P) states and the properties of the X(4500) and X(4700) mesons can be overcome by introducing threshold corrections in the QM formalism. According to our coupled-channel model results for the threshold mass shifts, th…

Hadroproduction of open heavy flavour for PDF analyses

2019

Due to the large masses of the charm and bottom quarks, their production cross sections are calculable within the perturbative QCD. This makes the heavy-quark mesons important observables in high-energy collisions of protons and nuclei. However, the available calculations for heavy-flavored-meson hadroproduction have been somewhat problematic in reliably describing the cross sections across the full kinematic range from zero to very high $p_{\rm T}$. This has put some question marks on the robustness of LHC heavy-flavored-meson measurements in studying the partonic structure of the colliding hadrons and nuclei. Here, we introduce SACOT-$m_{\rm T}$ - a novel scheme for open heavy-flavour had…

Parton distribution functions of heavy mesons on the light front

2019

The parton distribution functions (PDFs) of heavy mesons are evaluated from their light-front wave functions, which are obtained from a basis light-front quantization in the leading Fock sector representation. We consider the mass eigenstates from an effective Hamiltonian consisting of the confining potential adopted from light-front holography in the transverse direction, a longitudinal confinement, and a one-gluon exchange interaction with running coupling. We present the gluon and the sea quark PDFs which we generate dynamically from the QCD evolution of the valence quark distributions.

Time reversal invariance violation in neutron-nucleus scattering

2019

Planning and interpretation of the experiments searching for the time reversal (T) and parity (P) violation in neutron reactions require values of the matrix elements of the T,P-violating nuclear forces between nuclear compound states. We calculate the root mean square values and the ratio of the matrix elements of the T,P-violating and P-violating interactions using statistical theory based on the properties of chaotic compound states and present the results in terms of the fundamental parameters in four different forms: in terms of the constants of the contact nuclear interaction, meson exchange constants, QCD theta-term and quark chromo-EDMs. Using current limits on these parameters, we …
