Job Satisfaction among Primary School Personnel

International audience; This article analyzes the job satisfaction of primary school teachers inMadagascar. Based on the estimation of multilevel models, low wages and problems getting paid, job insecurity, lack of in-service training, high pupil-teacher ratios, and lack of basic infrastructure and teaching materials are identified as the main reasons for dissatisfaction. Principals' control of teachers' activities also adversely affects satisfaction, suggesting that, in Malagasy schools, neither school directors nor teachers have succeeded in adopting organizational cultures based on cooperation among their members. Le mouvement des idées monétaires dans l'Europe moderne

Ce chapitre vise à fournir une vue de l'évolution des idées monétaires dans l'Europe moderne. Il s'alimente notamment des textes des auteurs du présent livre pour en dégager quelques leçons. Dans un premier temps, il discutera du sens du substantif " mercantilisme " tel qu'il a été construit depuis le milieu du dix-huitième siècle : examiner les fondements historiques de cette notion permettra d'en montrer les impasses. Il présentera, dans un second temps, une catégorisation des auteurs construite à partir de leur rapport au pouvoir.

Combining individual and group-level perspectives for studying collaborative knowledge construction in context

Abstract The aim of this article is to identify concepts and methods for studying collaboration in context. The article presents a two-level methodology designed to combine individual and group-level perspectives for the evaluation of collaborative knowledge construction in student groups. The group-level analysis is focused on the students' negotiation processes. The effect of culture on requirements: a value-based view of prioritization

This paper examines how culture affects requirements and their prioritization. We analyze the requirements of a mobile service, which were collected from Helsinki, Hong Kong, and Las Vegas. We argue that the current prioritization techniques for requirements do not sufficiently account for the cultural effects, nor does the literature offer information on ways of prioritizing such requirements according to users’ values. We see this as problematic because the literature suggests that culture should be viewed as a set of values.
