On the 1-handles of the product V3XBn for a simply connected open 3-manifold V3
2013
Although \pi_1^\inftyV^3 is an obstruction for killing stably the 1-handles of an open simply connected 3-manifold V^3, one can always get rid of the 1-handles of V^3\times B^n, for high enough n, at price of a certain nonmetrizable slackening of the topology.
General route to dissymmetric heteroannular-functionalized ferrocenyl 1,2-diphosphines: selective synthesis and characterization of a new class of tr…
2006
Several monosubstituted-cyclopentadienyl anions (A-Li) and [1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)-4-tert-butylcyclopentadienyl]lithium (B-Li) react with FeCl2 to afford a novel class of multidentate ferroceny...
COMPARING PARTICLE SIZE DISTRIBUTION ANALYSIS BY SEDIMENTATION AND LASER DIFFRACTION METHOD
2009
In this paper a brief review of the laser diffraction method is firstly carried out. Then, for 30 soil samples having a different texture classification sampled in Sicilian basin, a comparison between the two techniques is developed. The analysis demonstrated that the sand content measured by Sieve-Hydrometer method can be assumed equal to the one determinated by laser diffraction technique while an overestimation of the clay fraction measured by Sieve-Hydrometer method respect to laser diffraction technique was obtained. Finally a set of equations useful to refer LD measurements to SH method was proposed.
Geometrical super resolved lensless imaging
2011
In the field of super resolution researchers are trying to overcome both the diffraction as well as the geometrical bounds of an imaging system. In this paper we present a recently developed approach that aims to overcome the geometrical bounds while using a unified spatial light modulator (SLM) based lensless configuration.
Fractional Fourier transforms, symmetrical lens systems, and their cardinal planes
2007
We study the relation between optical lens systems that perform a fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) with the geometrical cardinal planes. We demonstrate that lens systems symmetrical with respect to the central plane provide an exact FRFT link between the input and output planes. Moreover, we show that the fractional order of the transform has real values between 0 and 2 when light propagation is produced between principal planes and antiprincipal planes, respectively. Finally, we use this new point of view to design an optical lens system that provides FRFTs with variable fractional order in the range (0,2) without moving the input and output planes.
Effective Fresnel-number concept for evaluating the relative focal shift in focused beams
1998
We report on an analytical formulation, based on the concept of effective Fresnel number, to evaluate in a simple way the relative focal shift of rotationally nonsymmetric scalar fields that have geometrical focus and moderate Fresnel number. To illustrate our approach, certain previously known results and also some new focusing setups are analytically examined.
A Riemann manifold structure of the spectra of weighted algebras of holomorphic functions
2009
[EN] In this paper we give general conditions on a countable family V of weights on an unbounded open set U in a complex Banach space X such that the weighted space HV (U) of holomorphic functions on U has a Frechet algebra structure. For such weights it is shown that the spectrum of HV(U) has a natural analytic manifold structure when X is a symmetrically regular Banach space, and in particular when X = C-n. A general procedure for the construction of Gorges polygons for multi-phase windings of electrical machines
2018
This paper presents a simple and effective procedure for the determination of the Gorges polygon, suitable for all possible winding configurations in electrical machines. This methodology takes into account the determination of a Winding Distribution Table (WDT), in which all the information about the distribution of the currents along the stator periphery is computed and from which the Görges polygon are easily derived. The proposed method can be applied to both symmetrical and asymmetrical multi-phase windings, including concentrated, fractional, reduced and dead-coil ones. The examples provided in this paper demonstrate the versatility of the proposed method.
