INDAGINI DIAGNOSTICHE PROPEDEUTICHE AL RESTAURO DELLA SALA DEI VENTI DI PALAZZO DEI NORMANNI A PALERMO
2019
Microscopic theory for hopping transport in glass-forming liquids: mode coupling corrections
1999
Abstract By introducing an order parameter that describes the geometry of clusters of particles, Liu and Oppenheim [Physica A 247 (1997) 183] developed a microscopic theory for hopping transport in glass-forming liquids. In this work we bring this theory within the frame of mode coupling theories in the highly viscous regime. We calculate corrections to the effective longitudinal viscosity that affect its long-time dynamical behavior. Nevertheless, the relation between the longitudinal viscosity and the hopping kernel is not qualitatively altered by mode coupling.
Evaluating the microscopic effect of brushing stone tools as a cleaning procedure
2020
Cleaning stone tool surfaces is a common procedure in lithic studies. The first step widely applied at any archeological site (and/or at field laboratories) is the gross removal of sediment from the surfaces of artifacts. Lithic surface alterations due to mechanical action applied in wet or dry cleaning regimes have never been examined at a microscopic scale. This could have important implications in traceology, as any modern surface modifications inflicted on archeological artifacts might compromise their functional interpretations. The current trend toward quantification of use-wear traces makes the testing even more important, as even slight, apparently invisible surface alterations migh…
Spatially resolved measurement of nonequilibrium quasiparticle relaxation in superconducting Al
2011
Spatially resolved relaxation of nonequilibrium quasiparticles in a superconductor at ultralow temperatures was experimentally studied. It was found that the quasiparticle injection through a tunnel junction results in the modification of the shape of the I-V characteristic of a remote ``detector'' junction. The effect depends on the temperature, injection current, and proximity to the injector. The phenomena can be understood in terms of the creation of quasiparticle charge and energy disequilibrium characterized by two different length scales ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{{Q}^{*}}~5$ and ${\ensuremath{\Lambda}}_{{T}^{*}}~40$ $\ensuremath{\mu}$m. The findings are in good agreement with existing…
Aplicaciones a microscopía coherente.
2016
New Quadratic Self-Assembly of Double-Decker Phthalocyanine on Gold(111) Surface : From Macroscopic to Microscopic Scale
2018
Unveiling the self-organization mechanism of semiconducting organic molecules onto metallic surfaces is the first step to design hybrid devices in which the self-assembling is exploited to tailor magnetic properties. In this study, double-decker rare-earth phthalocyanines, namely, lutetium phthalocyanine (LuPc2), are deposited on Au(111) gold surface forming large-scale self-assemblies. Global and local experimental techniques, namely, grazing incidence X-ray diffraction and scanning tunneling microscopy, supplemented by density functional theory calculations with van der Waals corrections, give insight into the molecular structural arrangement of the thin film and the self organization at …

ChemInform Abstract: Two New Retigerane-Type Sesterterpenoids from the Lichen Leprocaulon microscopicum.
2016
Two new compounds (I) and (II) are isolated, possessing a rare pentacyclic carbon skeleton typical for lichen metabolism, and quite unusual in the vegetal kingdom.
