Introduction: This systematic review of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) identifies three long-acting injectable (LAI) risperidone formulations. Areas covered: Limited data is available on two formulations (RBP-7000 and in Situ Microparticle), but 20 TDM articles on the microsphere formulation were found. In this study the effect of amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) microparticles and amorphous calcium polyphosphate (polyP) microparticles (termed aCa-polyP-MP) on bone mineral forming cells/tissue was investigated in vitro and in vivo. The ACC particles (termed ACC-P10-MP) were prepared in the presence of Na-polyP. Only the combinations of polyP and ACC microparticles enhanced the proliferation rate of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). In many countries around the globe, Muslims not only form a statistical religious minority, but also are mainly regarded as a homogeneous group by the average citizen, the press and politicians. Concepts of Muslim diaspora seem to frequently reinforce this idea, implying that Muslims are building a global community endangering supposedly peaceful cohabitation within nation-states. The purpose of this study was todetermine the loading capacity of the semi-synthetic topoisomerase-1 inhibitor topotecan into the DC Bead™ microspheres under static or agitated conditions and to assess the physicochemical stability over a period of 7 days. The effect of prednisolone and non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs on PMNL (polymorphonuclear leucocytes) oxidative metabolism was quantified with a newly standardized NBT test, and it was investigated whether these effects correlate with phagocytosing capacity of PMNL. Prednisolone inhibits NBT reduction in dose dependency already at concentrations, which do not interfere with phagocytosis. Thus prednisolone dissociates phagocytosis and phagocytosis-associated oxidative metabolism. High doses of prednisolone also inhibit phagocytosis. Analysis of microsphere oblique impact with planar surfaces based on the independent friction-restitution approach

The independent friction restitution closure (IFR) previously applied to describe planar oblique impact of a homogeneous sphere on an infinitely massive rough plane is applied here to microsphere collisions and is extended to describe horizontal launch experiments. The model provides analytical solutions of the motion equations based on a unique set of values of the coefficients of normal and tangential restitution and friction. Comparison with experimental data in literature for the impact of microspheres of diameter <100 mu m yields a satisfactory agreement between experimentation and theory.
