Varusmiespalveluksen peruskoulutuskauden kokonaiskuormittavuudesta ei ole riittävästi tietoa. Verenkierto -ja hengityselimistön kunnon kehittyminen ja ylläpitäminen edellyttää riittävää fyysistä aktiivisuutta. Liiallinen ja pitkittynyt fyysinen kuormittaminen taas johtaa ylikuormitustilaan, josta seuraa suorituskyvyn laskeminen sekä muita fyysisiä ja psyykkisiä oireita. Tämän pro gradu -tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli määrittää varusmiespalveluksen peruskoulutuskauden kuormittavuutta objektiivisillä mittausmenetelmillä aidoissa olosuhteissa. Maģistra darbā “Virtuālās realitātes tehnoloģijas kā apziņas metafora” tiek aplūkots šīs metaforas pielietojums mūsdienu apziņas filozofijas kontekstā. Darba mērķis ir pierādīt, ka, neskatoties uz virtuālās realitātes metaforas noderīgumu konkrētos kontekstos, tai ir ievērojami ierobežojumi un problēmas, kas traucē raksturot fenomenālo apziņu. Darba pirmajā daļā tiek aplūkotas senākas tehnoloģiju metaforas (prāts kā automāts, tvaika dzinējs un dators). Otrajā daļā tiek apskatīts virtuālās realitātes metaforas pielietojums mūsdienu apziņas filozofijas tekstos, lai noskaidrotu metaforas pielietošanas pamatojumu.
