2012
Finalmente…

Mobility from the Long Term Perspective
2018
Over the last few years, in various public seminars, speeches, and official accounts, one has often heard that “migration is not a new phenomenon, people have always been mobile.” The basic facts are correct. However, it is worth asking what kind of migration and mobilities we are talking about, both in the past and present. Are there any similarities or differences between people who were, and are on the move? What has motivated mobility during the past centuries, and in different regions? How has mobility affected families, loved ones, and livelihood opportunities, and the communities that migrants left behind and arrived in? Indeed, mobility also affects those who, for one reason or anot…
2015
The feminization of migrations, especially in the Mediterranean countries of Europe, is associated with new forms of exploitation of migrant labor. This article aims to analyze from this point of view the market of domestic and care work of migrant women in the homes of Italian families, placing it in relation to the deficiencies of national social policies. The analysis of this phenomenon in the Italian context - developed with the support of a series of interviews with migrant workers - reveals about these women and their families of origin the violation of certain fundamental human rights : primarily the right to the family unity, bound by the rules of family reunification, by the cohabi…

Places of Belonging, Places of Detachment:
2022
This chapter contributes to the ongoing discussion about rural belonging by considering the role of historical consciousness (Rüsen, 2004) in the process of belonging in a place. The chapter suggests that young people’s temporal orientation in relation to local culture and history plays a significant role in their commitment to rural communities. The analysis draws on qualitative longitudinal data from Finnish girls, aged 16–19, from two sparsely populated regions (Central Finland and the Northern Finnish Sámi homeland). The chapter shows how multiple strands of commitment tie rural young people to their local surroundings, where the past is present in the landscape and everyday life in a m…
Collective Locomotion of Human Cells, Wound Healing and Their Control by Extracts and Isolated Compounds from Marine Invertebrates
2020
The collective migration of cells is a complex integrated process that represents a common theme joining morphogenesis, tissue regeneration, and tumor biology. It is known that a remarkable amount of secondary metabolites produced by aquatic invertebrates displays active pharmacological properties against a variety of diseases. The aim of this review is to pick up selected studies that report the extraction and identification of crude extracts or isolated compounds that exert a modulatory effect on collective cell locomotion and/or skin tissue reconstitution and recapitulate the molecular, biochemical, and/or physiological aspects, where available, which are associated to the substances und…
Emigracja a proces uczenia się małżonków
2022
Przeprowadzono badania biograficzne z wykorzystaniem autobiogra…
MATERIAL DEPRIVATION AMONG FOREIGNERS IN ITALY
2014
In all European countries, migrant populations tend to have worse living conditions than native; this is particularly true for those born outside the EU. This paper proposes a new way to look at the relative living conditions of foreigners by looking at non-monetary (or ‘direct’) indicators of material deprivation in Italy-a country characterized by the presence of a wide range of nationalities. To examine differences in economic integration of foreigners, the paper documents deprivation differentials across groups of foreigners. In particular, we measure differences in material deprivation between groups of foreigners once we control for the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of…
