Hot electron injection into aqueous electrolyte solution from thin insulating film-coated electrodes
1998
Hot electron injection into aqueous electrolyte solution was studied with electrochemiluminescence and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) methods. Both methods provide further indirect support for the previously proposed hot electron emission mechanisms from thin insulating film-coated electrodes to aqueous electrolyte solution. The results do not rule out the possibility of hydrated electron being as a cathodic intermediate in the reduction reactions at cathodically pulse-polarized thin insulating film-coated electrodes. However, no direct evidence for electrochemical generation of hydrated electrons could be obtained with EPR, only spin-trapping experiments could give information about…
Toward luminescence vapochromism of tetranuclear AuI-Cu I clusters
2013
A family of triphosphine gold–copper clusters bearing aliphatic and hydroxyaliphatic alkynyl ligands of general formula [HC(PPh2)3Au3Cu(C2R)3]+ (R = cyclohexyl (1), cyclopentyl (2), But (3), cyclohexanolyl (4), cyclopentanolyl (5), 2,6-dimethylheptanolyl (6), 2-methylbutanolyl (7), diphenylmethanolyl (8)) was synthesized via a self-assembly protocol, which involves treatment of the (AuC2R)n acetylides with the (PPh2)3CH ligand in the presence of Cu+ ions and NEt3. Addition of Cl– or Br– anions to complex 8 results in coordination of the halides to the copper atoms to give neutral HC(PPh2)3Au3CuHal(C2COHPh2)3 derivatives (Hal = Cl (9), Br (10)). The title compounds were characterized by NMR …
Sky-Blue Luminescent Au(I)-Ag(I) Alkynyl-Phosphine Clusters
2013
Treatment of the (AuC2R)n acetylides with phosphine ligand 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)butane (PbuP) and Ag(+) ions results in self-assembly of the heterobimetallic clusters of three structural types depending on the nature of the alkynyl group. The hexadecanuclear complex [Au12Ag4(C2R)12(PbuP)6](4+) (1) is formed for R = Ph, and the octanuclear species [Au6Ag2(C2R)6(PbuP)3](2+) adopting two structural arrangements in the solid state were found for the aliphatic alkynes (R = Bu(t) (2), 2-propanolyl (3), 1-cyclohexanolyl (4), diphenylmethanolyl (5), 2-borneolyl (6)). The structures of the compounds 1-4 and 6 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The NMR spectroscopic st…
Probing optical and magnetic properties via subtle stereoelectronic effects in mononuclear DyIII-complexes
2021
Tapping into the secondary coordination environment of mononuclear DyIII-complexes leads to drastic changes in luminescence and magnetism. Visualization of effects induced by stereoelectronics on the opto-magnetic properties was achieved through subtle modifications in the ligand framework.
Morphological, electrical and optical properties of organic light-emitting diodes with a LiF/Al cathode and an Al-hydroxyquinoline/diamine junction
2004
Abstract We report the results of the morphological, electrical and optical characterisation of double-layer Alq3-based organic emitting diodes with a lithium fluoride (LiF)/Al cathode. A detailed electron microscopy investigation of their cross-section shows the presence of LiF isolated grains underneath the Al film. Due to the introduction of the LiF layer, luminance was larger than 30,000 cd/m2 at a bias voltage VB=25 V with a maximum external luminous efficiency as large as 46 lm/W at VB=20 V. Performing on/off VB cycles at a very low frequency, each time a recovery of the initial electric and luminous performance was observed. The non-exponential decay of both electric current and lumi…
Up-conversion processes in NaLaF4:Er3+
2009
abstract Structural and spectroscopic investigation of NaLaF 4 :Er 3+ material at different doping concentrations ispresented. X-ray diffraction patterns, up-conversion luminescence spectra and decay curves for 2 H 9/2 ? 4 I 15/2 , 4 S 3/2 ? 4 I 15/2 and 4 F 9/2 ? 4 I 15/2 optical transitions in the material are shown and possibleexcitation routes are discussed. Raman spectrum for the undoped material is presented and the effectivephonon energy of the material is estimated. Based on the obtained results application of rare-earth dopedNaLaF 4 in the field of up-conversion phosphors is evaluated. 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. 1. Impact of the synergistic collaboration of oligothiophene bridges and ruthenium complexes on the optical properties of dumbbell-shaped compounds.
2012
The linear and non-linear optical properties of a family of dumbbell-shaped dinuclear complexes, in which an oligothiophene chain with various numbers of rings (1, 3, and 6) acts as a bridge between two homoleptic tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) complexes, have been fully investigated by using a range of spectroscopic techniques (absorption and luminescence, transient absorption, Raman, and non-linear absorption), together with density functional theory calculations. Our results shed light on the impact of the synergistic collaboration between the electronic structures of the two chemical moieties on the optical properties of these materials. Experiments on the linear optical properties …
Organocatalytic asymmetric addition of naphthols and electron-rich phenols to isatin-derived ketimines: highly enantioselective construction of tetra…
2015
A quinine-derived thiourea organocatalyst promoted the highly enantioselective addition of naphthols and activated phenols to ketimines derived from isatins. The reaction afforded chiral 3-amino-2-oxindoles with a quaternary stereocenter in high yields (up to 99%) with excellent enantioselectivity (up to 99% ee). To the best of our knowledge, this transformation is the first highly enantioselective addition of naphthols to ketimines
Light-emitting electrochemical cells based on a supramolecularly-caged phenanthroline-based iridium complex.
2011
The complex [Ir(ppy)(2)(pphen)][PF(6)] (Hppy = 2-phenylpyridine, pphen = 2-phenyl-1,10-phenanthroline) has been prepared and evaluated as an electroluminescent component for light-emitting electrochemical cells (LECs). Like in analogous LECs using bpy-based iridium(III) complexes a significant enhancement of the device stability is observed.
