I Forskrift til opplaeringslova framgar det blant annet at eksamenskarakteren skal fastsette kompetansen til eleven ved slutten av opplaeringen i faget. Denne artikkelen viser imidlertid at policydokumenter og policyutviklere har en rekke forventninger til hva man skal oppna ved a ha eksamen og hva man skal kunne benytte eksamensresultater til. An analysis of Italian university students' performance through segmented regression models: gender differences in STEM courses

AbstractThis paper investigates gender differences in university performances in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses in Italy, proposing a novel application through the segmented regression models. The analysis concerns freshmen students enrolled at a 3-year STEM degree in Italian universities in the last decade, with a focus on the relationship between the number of university credits earned during the first year (a good predictor of the regularity of the career) and the probability of getting the bachelor degree within 4 years. Measurement of inclusive neutral current pi(0) production on carbon in a few-GeV neutrino beam

The SciBooNE Collaboration reports inclusive neutral current neutral pion production by a muon neutrino beam on a polystyrene target (C8H8). We obtain (7.7 +/- 0.5(stat) +/- 0.5(sys)) X 10(-2) as the ratio of the neutral current neutral pion production to total charged current cross section; the mean energy of neutrinos producing detected neutral pions is 1.1 GeV. The result agrees with the Rein-Sehgal model implemented in our neutrino interaction simulation program with nuclear effects. The spectrum shape of the pi(0) momentum and angle agree with the model. We also measure the ratio of the neutral current coherent pion production to total charged current cross section to be (0.7 +/- 0.4) …

[Background]: The adaptive transition between behavioral strategies, such as the shift from migratoriness to sedentariness, remains an outstanding question in evolutionary ecology. Density-dependent variation in the age of first breeding has been proposed as a feasible mechanism through which long-lived migratory birds with deferred sexual maturity should become sedentary to persist on islands. Although this pattern seems to hold for most raptors and herons, a few exceptions have been identified. One of these exceptions is the Eleonora's falcon, a long-distance migratory bird, which shows one of the most peculiar adaptations in the timing of reproduction and food requirements among raptors.…

Before finishing my Ph.D. in September 1986, I had already a non permanent position at the University of Valencia, it was called at this time assistant professor (profesor ayudante), with a lot of teaching. I sent a letter to Manuel at the beginning of 1987 and, after receiving the letter, he called immediately by phone my thesis advisor, Prof. Alfredo Segura. Manuel told him: I have a lot of people at the moment, but if he is very good, I will accept him. Finally, he sent me an acceptation letter and I got a fellowship from the local government and the Ministry of Education. I did my postdoc from December 87 to 89.
The impact of arthropods on fungal community structure in Lascaux Cave

Aims: To determine the major components of the fungal population present in Lascaux Cave, France. The ceiling, walls, sediments and soil were colonized by Fusarium solani in 2001 and later, in 2006, black stains appeared. However, the origin of the successive fungal invasions is unknown as well as the ecology of the cave. Methods and Results: The primers nu-SSU-0817F and nu-SSU-1536R were used for the direct amplification of fungal 18S-rDNA sequences from 11 samples. A total of 607 clones were retrieved.
