Tutkimme tässä artikkelissa liikunnanopettajien puhetapoja seksuaali- ja sukupuolivähemmistöihin kuuluvista oppilaista koululiikunnassa. Aineisto koostuu kymmenen opettajan haastatteluaineistosta sekä 105 opettajan verkkokyselyaineistosta. Analysoimme laadullisella sisällönanalyysilla puhetavoista heteronormatiivisuutta sekä sukupuolen moninaisuutta. A growing number of applied linguists and language educators in the US/North American context advocate for and from a scholarly perspective which views language issues in relation to racial issues and vice versa. The emergent field of raciolinguistics highlights the relationships between language and race/racism and has brought about research that investigates their intersections. Mother tongue is one of the most important aspects of preserving identity o f national or ethnic minority. Being in force since 2005 the Law on National and Ethnic Minorities and Regional Language minorities in Poland secures the right to preserve and maintain their language and to introduce it as an assistant language in municipalities. This papers studies different issues related to minorities rights. After trying to define what should be intended as minorities in contemporary West societies and exploring if it is possible to make a difference between old and new minorities, the research focuses on the main issues that are at stake. In particular, the paper aims at discovering which are the rights involved and how such rights can be categorised, as human, cultural, individual or community rights. The research will show how new minorities are in need of having their own identities recognised and protected by our West societies.
