Mobility of a Mononucleotide within a Lipid Matrix: A Neutron Scattering Study
2017
International audience; An essential question in studies on the origins of life is how nucleic acids were first synthesized and then incorporated into compartments about 4 billion years ago. A recent discovery is that guided polymerization within organizing matrices could promote a non-enzymatic condensation reaction allowing the formation of RNA-like polymers, followed by encapsulation in lipid membranes. Here, we used neutron scattering and deuterium labelling to investigate 5'-adenosine monophosphate (AMP) molecules captured in a multilamellar phospholipid matrix. The aim of the research was to determine and compare how mononucleotides are captured and differently organized within matric…
Clinical Outcomes After Aggressive Active Early Motion and Modified Kleinert Regimens: Comparison of 2 Consecutive Cohorts
2021
Background Modern multistrand repairs can withstand forces present in active flexion exercises, and this may improve the outcomes of flexor tendon repairs. We developed a simple home-based exercise regimen with free wrist and intrinsic minus splint aimed at facilitating the gliding of the flexor tendons and compared the outcomes with the modified Kleinert regimen used previously in the same institution. Methods We searched the hospital database to identify flexor tendon repair performed before and after the new regimen was implemented and invited all patients to participate. The primary outcome was total active range of motion, and secondary outcomes were Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder, and …
Attosecond Soft-X-Ray Spectroscopy in a Transition Metal Dichalcogenide
2019
Information about the real-time response of carriers to optical fields is paramount to advance information processing or to understand the bottlenecks of light-matter interaction and energy harvesting. Transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) compounds are an emerging class of materials with attractive structural and electronic properties that can be thinned to the 2D limit and TiS 2 is a paradigmatic example for a semi-metallic TMDC, since its electron mobility ranges between that of a metal and a semiconductor.
Genome Sequencing and Transcriptome Analysis Reveal Recent Species-specific Gene Duplications in the Plastic Gilthead Sea Bream
2019
AbstractGilthead sea bream is an economically important fish species that is remarkably well-adapted to farming and changing environments. Understanding the genomic basis of this plasticity will serve to orientate domestication and selective breeding towards more robust and efficient fish. To address this goal, a draft genome assembly was reconstructed combining short- and long-read high-throughput sequencing with genetic linkage maps. The assembled unmasked genome spans 1.24 Gb of an expected 1.59 Gb genome size with 932 scaffolds (∼732 Mb) anchored to 24 chromosomes that are available as a karyotype browser at www.nutrigroup-iats.org/seabreambrowser. Homology-based functional annotation, …
“Framboisé” spoilage in French ciders: Zymomonas mobilis implication and characterization
2006
Abstract Biodiversity of 17 Zymomonas mobilis strains isolated from French “framboise” ciders from 7 different geographical areas of France was analysed using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and 6 different strain fingerprints were observed. One of the fingerprints was identical for 10 of the 17 cases. No correlation between geographical origin and strain fingerprint was observed. In parallel, the cider-making process was followed from the orchard to the final product for Z. mobilis presence. Detection of the bacterium only occurred during the fermentation process. The French isolate, strain AN0101, recently proposed as a novel subspecies ( Z. mobilis subsp. francensis ) was charact…
Standardized on-road tests assessing fitness-to-drive in people with cognitive impairments: A systematic review.
2020
Objective The on-road assessment is the gold standard because of its ecological validity. Yet existing instruments are heterogeneous and little is known about their psychometric properties. This study identified existing on-road assessment instruments and extracted data on psychometric properties and usability in clinical settings. Method A systematic review identified studies evaluating standardized on-road evaluation instruments adapted for people with cognitive impairment. Published articles were searched on PubMed, CINHAL, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect. Study quality and the level of evidence were assessed using the COSMIN checklist. The collected data were synthetized usi…

Further Evidence for Criterion Validity and Measurement Invariance of the Luxembourg Workplace Mobbing Scale
2020
Abstract. Workplace mobbing has various negative consequences for targeted individuals and are costly to organizations. At present it is debated whether gender, age, or occupation are potential risk factors. However, empirical data remain inconclusive as measures of workplace mobbing so far lack of measurement invariance (MI) testing – a prerequisite for meaningful manifest between-group comparisons. To close this research gap, the present study sought to further elucidate MI of the recently developed brief Luxembourg Workplace Mobbing Scale (LWMS; Steffgen, Sischka, Schmidt, Kohl, & Happ, 2016 ) across gender, age, and occupational groups and to test whether these factors represent im…
Social determinants of identity in communities: A social capital- and social categorization-based approach – findings from Latvia
2017
The article investigates the relations, in the light of new paradigms of economic development, between trust and economic wealth at the micro level in the Republic of Latvia, by means of a structural equation modelling-based approach and a framework combining social capital and social identity theory, in a rationale of cross-fertilization between social and cognitive science. Results are also tested against control dimensions reflecting relevant divides in Latvian society (residence place dimensions; ethno-linguistic belongings; educational differences). General results support the hypothesis of the existence of a causal path connecting personal wealth, institutional trust, social engagemen…
