iOS Applications Testing
2015

Mobile applications conquer the world, but iOS devices hold the major share of tablets market among the corporate workers. This study aims to identify the aspects (i.e. features and/ or limitations) that influence the testing of the native iOS applications. The aspects related to general mobile applications testing are identified through the systematic literature review of academic sources. iOS applications testing aspects are identified through the review of non-academic (multivocal) literature sources. The identified aspects are merged and discussed in detail using the reviewed sources and based on the author’s professional expe…
Revenue models, in-app purchase, and the app performance: Evidence from Apple's App Store and Google Play
2016
The effect of revenue models on app performance depends on the app store. The effect of in-app purchase on app performance depends on the app store.Paid, freemium and in-purchase models are shown to be effective in app store.Freemium and in-app purchase models are shown to be less effective in Google Play.App category influences the effects of both revenue models and in-app purchase. In this paper, we empirically examine how the revenue model (paid, free, or freemium) adopted for a given app affects the app revenue performance as measured by the app daily revenue rank. We also study the impact of in-app purchase on this measure of performance. Moreover, we study how such relationships are co…
Performing transnational family with the affordances of mobile apps : a case study of Polish mothers living in Finland
2020
Affordances provided by digital technologies and mobile apps (WhatsApp, Skype, Messenger) help in maintaining familyhood. These mobile apps enable the creation of in-app family groups. They also afford image sharing, which is used for phatic purposes. Digital connectivity provides the illusions of togetherness and belonging, and allows for performing family in a transnational context (emotional transnationalism). However, it also generates the feelings of guilt through infrequent communication. In the auto-driven visual elicitation interviews, the study looks at family constellations and technologically mediated communication from the perspective of five Polish mothers living in Finland. Ap…

RecomMetz: A context-aware knowledge-based mobile recommender system for movie showtimes
2015
Abstract Recommender systems are used to provide filtered information from a large amount of elements. They provide personalized recommendations on products or services to users. The recommendations are intended to provide interesting elements to users. Recommender systems can be developed using different techniques and algorithms where the selection of these techniques depends on the area in which they will be applied. This paper proposes a recommender system in the leisure domain, specifically in the movie showtimes domain. The system proposed is called RecomMetz, and it is a context-aware mobile recommender system based on Semantic Web technologies. In detail, a domain ontology primarily…
Mobile Computing Environment
2002
A conceptual framework for ubiquitous mobile environments.
2008
The aim of this paper is to reflect upon and develop a conceptual framework that addresses the relationship between real and virtual life, with a particular focus on mobile gaming as one potential methodology for learning. The comprehension of the virtual-real life relationship is relevant not only to mobile gaming, but also to the ongoing discussions about and development of ubiquitous computing.
Hibrid Adaptive/EKF Motion Control and Data Fusion for Ground Vehicles with Kinematical and Dynamical Uncertainties
2006
This paper considers the motion control problem of ground vehicles with nonholonomic constraints and parametric uncertainties both in the kinematic and in the dynamic model. The presence of uncertainties above is treated using adaptation laws where the Lyapunov's stability of the position and orientation errors is proved. Now, if the feedback signals are position and orientation provided by incremental encoders only, then noises of the odometric sensors above can damage the control in terms of difference between the desired and the actual motion of the vehicle and in terms of performances of the parametric adaptation. So an extended Kalman's filter (EKF) is inserted in the feedback for meas…
Noised Trajectory tracking Control based on Fuzzy Lyapunov approach for Wheeled Vehicles
2005
This paper solves a trajectory tracking control problem whit outside perturbations for wheeled nonholonomic vehicles using a Fuzzy Lyapunov method. Trough a symbiosis between classical backstepping techniques and fuzzy logic, the control system ensures a good robustness with respect to outside perturbations. Possible causes of perturbations are the characteristics of the ground and the contact between the wheels and the ground. These perturbations can interact with the vehicle, they are sources of uncertainty for the system model and can perturb the validity of the nonholonomic constraints. The convergence of the tracking errors to the origin and the asymptotic stability of the equilibrium …
