Primary gastrointestinal involvement in non-Hodgkin's lymphomas.

This paper reviews primary gastrointestinal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (GI-NHL). Every aspect of the topic is discussed though special attention is paid to histopathology and instrumental diagnosis as essential factors to stage the lymphoma and to determine an adequate therapy. Data from the most important works on the subject together with the results of our recent study of 40 primary GI-NHL are reported. Diverse findings by various authors are intentionally compared in a manner to present the work to the reader in the most critical way while trying to give an objective explanation of the different results on the basis of our own experience.

Cytogenetic, flow cytometric, cytophotometric and morphometric analyses were performed on 22 previously untreated, primary solid breast carcinomas. Although the cell nuclei as the primary object of these studies were the same in all the tumors, distinct features were evaluated in each case to determine to what degree the results obtained by these techniques are comparable. From the cytogenetic viewpoint, six tumors had a modal number in the diploid range, seven were in the triploid range, and two in the tetraploid range; seven tumors had no modal number. Purpose To evaluate variations in the position of the phakic iris claw lens (Artisan®, Verisyse®) and the natural crystalline lens during the accommodation process. Methods We measured changes in position of the iris claw lens and the crystalline lens during the accommodation using optical coherence biometry (AC Master®/Carl Zeiss Meditec, Germany) in 17 patients (28 eyes) with a phakic iris claw lens implanted for high myopia and/or myopic astigmatism. The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of intravesical therapy on PSA after transurethral resection (TUR) of nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Although some authors report that the prevalence of general binocular dysfunctions (nonstrabismic) for nonpresbyopes in the clinical population is greater than any condition except refractive error, limited research is available to support this statement.
