The purpose of this chapter is to study children’s engagement with mathematics in kindergarten mediated by digital tools within the context of interactive whiteboard (IWB). Our study reports from a research project aiming at analysing in what ways digital tools may nurture children’s appropriation processes relative to mathematics. In adopting a sociocultural perspective on learning and development, observations together with video recordings have been analysed. Our study shows that the children make sense of the digital tools and are able to apply the tools purposefully due to the interaction with an adult within the zone of proximal development (ZPD). Student evaluations of the credibility and argumentation of online sources

This study investigated upper secondary school students’ skills in evaluating the credibility and argumentative content of a blog text and a YouTube video. Both sources concerned child vaccination, the blog text opposing and the YouTube video supporting it. Students rated each source as credible, fairly credible or non-credible, justified their ratings, and analyzed the argumentation of both sources. Their justifications were analyzed for trustworthiness and expertise and their argument analyses for identification of the main position of the source and the reasons supporting it. Despite their small brains, insects show advanced capabilities in learning and task solving. Flies, honeybees and ants are becoming a reference point in neuroscience and a main source of inspiration for autonomous robot design issues and control algorithms. In particular, honeybees demonstrate to be able to autonomously abstract complex associations and apply them in tasks involving different sensory modalities within the insect brain. Tarkastelen artikkelissa hedelmöityshoitoja koskevan lakiprosessin aikaista kamppailua, joka realisoitui Laiksi hedelmöityshoidoista (1237/2006). Analysoin tarkemmin lain viidettä pykälää (1237/2006, 5§) sekä siitä lakiesityksessä HE 3/2006 esitettyjä perusteluja. Pykälän mukaan lääkärin tulee valita sukusolujen luovuttajista hoitoa saavan parin osapuolia muistuttavat henkilöt, sillä lapsen tulee saada muistuttaa myös sosiaalista vanhempaansa. A coupled atmospheric chemistry and climate system model was developed using the modal aerosol version of the National Center for Atmospheric Research Community Atmosphere Model (modal-CAM; v3.6.33) and the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry's Module Efficiently Calculating the Chemistry of the Atmosphere (MECCA; v2.5) to provide enhanced resolution of multiphase processes, particularly those involving inorganic halogens, and associated impacts on atmospheric composition and climate. As for previous years, the IADF TC organized a data fusion contest aiming at fostering new ideas and solutions for multisource studies.
