At the beginning of the atomic age, Francoist Spain launched an expensive project to develop, research and use nuclear energy. Scientists, the military and high-ranking officials in the administration mobilised to materialise a technoscientific dream with an international scope. The modernity of nuclear science contrasts with the reactionary ideology of the regime, but the paradox is only apparent because until now there has not necessarily been any historical relationship between science and democracy. Japāna jau ilgu laiku ir zināma kā zeme, kurā tehnika ieņem nozīmīgu lomu sabiedrības ikdienā. Edo periodā meistari darināja karakuri mehāniskās lelles, kas tiek uzskatītas par robotu priekštečiem. Modernità e postmodernità, per quanto termini usati frequentemente sia in maniera “continuista”, sia “discontinuista”, hanno differenti accezioni, e non solo semantiche. In questo lavoro intendiamo prendere in considerazione alcune modalità in cui tali termini si declinano nel lessico e nell’ideario sociologico. Dopo un breve paragrafo in cui si esplicitano le accezioni con le quali si utilizzano i due termini nella letteratura sociologica, viene dunque fatta una distinzione fra sociologie di orientamento postmoderno e sociologie del postmoderno, soffermandosi sul lavoro di alcun autori che possono essere considerati i referenti teorici delle diverse modalità in cui esse si articolano

Discovering Buddhism Online : A Translocative Analysis of Tibetan Buddhist Forum Discussions

The study investigates how tenets, meanings and practices of Tibetan Buddhism are re-contextualized by non-Tibetan students of online courses offered by a major Tibetan Buddhist organization. The research adopts transcultural and translocal perspectives and aims to enrich the understanding of how Tibetan Buddhism is establishing itself globally through online facilities. A 'translocative' analysis, suggested by Tweed (2011) for the study of Buddhism, is employed as the main lens for analysing the online program’s closed forum discussions. Innovation challenges tourism experiences in a new digitalized era. The new scenario is showing some paradoxical changes that lead to new approaches for tourism production, distribution, and financing. This chapter focuses on innovation in marketing, involving market processes, new changes in tourist behavior and new approaches adopted by companies to face new trends. An emphasis is given to service innovation in tourism, with a special focus on companies, tourist destinations, and the digital environment. Likewise, the chapter examines a series of paradoxes of postmodern tourists and how companies develop new products and services to try to address them.

The present notes of research centres on the problem of fragmentation, which is experienced by tourism applied research in the recent years. Echoing the original claims issued by John Tribe –followed by many others scholars–, we discuss further on the socio-economic factors that prevented tourism its maturated and stylised form.
