Distributed evolutionary approach to data clustering and modeling
2014
In this article we describe a framework (DEGA-Gen) for the application of distributed genetic algorithms for detection of communities in networks. The framework proposes efficient ways of encoding the network in the chromosomes, greatly optimizing the memory use and computations, resulting in a scalable framework. Different objective functions may be used for producing division of network into communities. The framework is implemented using open source implementation of MapReduce paradigm, Hadoop. We validate the framework by developing community detection algorithm, which uses modularity as measure of the division. Result of the algorithm is the network, partitioned into non-overlapping co…
One-dimensional hydrodynamic modeling of coronal plasmas on transputer arrays
1990
Abstract We describe a concurrent implementation of the Palermo-Harvard hydrodynamic code on cost-effective and modularity expandable transputer arrays. We have tested the effectiveness of our approach by simulating an already well-studied compact solar-flare model on different transputer configurations and compared their performances with those of other machines. We have found that the speed of the concurrent program on a 16-T800 transputers array is ~1/9 of that of the equivalent code optimized for a CRAY X-MP/48. This work clearly shows that transputer-based arrays provide locally available high computing-power tools to extend the investigation of compact solar flares and similar astroph…
Hilbert modularity of some double octic Calabi--Yau threefolds
2018
We exhibit three double octic Calabi--Yau threefolds over the certain quadratic fields and prove their modularity. The non-rigid threefold has two conjugate Hilbert modular forms of weight [4,2] and [2,4] attached while the two rigid threefolds correspond to a Hilbert modular form of weight [4,4] and to the twist of the restriction of a classical modular form of weight 4.
Bɪ-CомDᴇт: Community Detection in Bipartite Networks
2019
Abstract Extracting hidden communities from bipartite networks witnessed a determined effort. In this respect, different streams of research relied on bipartite networks to unveil communities. In this paper, we introduce a new approach, called Bi-Comdet, that aims to an efficient community detection in bipartite networks. The main trust of the introduced approach is that it stresses on the importance of grouping two types of nodes in communities having a full connection between its nodes. The quality of the unveiled communities, is assessed through some metrics borrowed from the FCA community, to wit modularity, overlapping and stability. These metrics are then aggregated through the use of…
How Correlated Are Community-Aware and Classical Centrality Measures in Complex Networks?
2021
Unlike classical centrality measures, recently developed community-aware centrality measures use a network’s community structure to identify influential nodes in complex networks. This paper investigates their relationship on a set of fifty real-world networks originating from various domains. Results show that classical and community-aware centrality measures generally exhibit low to medium correlation values. These results are consistent across networks. Transitivity and efficiency are the most influential macroscopic network features driving the correlation variation between classical and community-aware centrality measures. Additionally, the mixing parameter, the modularity, and the Max…
New Multilevel Inverter Topology with Reduced Component Count
2019
This paper introduces a new topology of modular multilevel inverters, being suitable in medium and high voltage applications. As compared to the existing circuits, the proposed topology has advantages of high ‘levels/components’ ratio, increasing the output voltage levels without increasing the voltage stress across the used switches, structure simplicity, isolation features, and modularity. These merits allow it to fit well in high-reliability medium-power applications, which require fast troubleshooting and maintenance flexibility. Operating principles of the proposed scheme are detailed in low frequency and pulse width modulation. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiv…

Self-organized modularization in evolutionary algorithms.
2005
The principle of modularization has proven to be extremely successful in the field of technical applications and particularly for Software Engineering purposes. The question to be answered within the present article is whether mechanisms can also be identified within the framework of Evolutionary Computation that cause a modularization of solutions. We will concentrate on processes, where modularization results only from the typical evolutionary operators, i.e. selection and variation by recombination and mutation (and not, e.g., from special modularization operators). This is what we call Self-Organized Modularization. Based on a combination of two formalizations by Radcliffe and Altenber…
